Nova, along with the garam masala, definitely tumeric and galangal. Much of the other essentials like cumin, coriander etc are available elsewhere, but fresh is better obviously. I use ginger and some mango sometimes too. Love Indian curries, and can't stand Thai curries that have coconut milk...

I never seem to have a great deal of success with pickling my chillis. They do the job, which is the bottom line, but they are usually a soggy mess. I soak them first in a brine solution, sterilised jars etc, but? The brine solution. I was told to use a "pickling salt", but no-one had ever...

I get the same...but in a different way. Constant day temps above 30deg and 60%+ humidity does my head in. I wish I could go hibernate from Oct - Apr. Great for chillis and reptiles, rubbish for humans.......:crazy:

Mate, all native Aussie wildlife is protected, but unless you are extremely unlucky (more often than not it's dickheads trying to kill them), you've nothing to fear. I only keep pythons, but have had experience with vens, and honestly - they are pussycats. :)

Hes Gas, I'm in Bris too, and we have possums, but they stick to their highway (telegraph poles and wires). I'm guessing you don't have dogs? I have two that constantly annoy the possums, and perhaps thats why I haven't lost anything...tho' now I'm starting to get nervous!! All my plants are in...
