Chocolate 7 Pod and Brown 7 Pod

I should be able to send you some. Hoping to isolate several pods. The Brown 7 and Douglah are similar. It is hard to tell from the pic, but the Brown 7 is bigger than the douglahs. jacob EDIT: The choc 7 is a cross made with a 7 pot and jamaican hot chocolate, if I remember correctly, and...

Chocolate 7 Pod and Brown 7 Pod

Well they should. They did have the same mama after all. How do you like them so far? Tastewise they are the best 7 IMO, but then again it's not like you get a lot of time to taste before the heat takes over. They are also the mildest 7 to me, but not mild by no means. When I get a...

Chocolate 7 Pod and Brown 7 Pod

No. They are both extremely hot and share other similar caracteristics, but are different as well. The chocolate 7 is more of a reddish brown and a bit more elongated while the brown 7 is more compact and blocky and a much darker brown. Here is a pic of both that I picked last week...

    Jacob's 2011 Pepper Porn

Thanks bro. Really like those yellow bhuts. Much more like a bhut than the ones I grew last year. Yessir, GO BLUE!!! One good thing about working as much as I have this year is that it was easy to talk the wife into letting me buy tickets to the Michigan-Notre Dame night game here in a...

    Jacob's 2011 Pepper Porn

Thanks patrick. To glue the flowers closed, I just take some of the cheap elmer's school glue (on sale for like a quarter with school starting up) and put a drop on the flower tip after it enlarges, but before it starts to open. Then, I mark the flower either with a string, or for this year...

    Jacob's 2011 Pepper Porn

Thanks Michael. It is good to be back and show off the fruits of my labor. I got you some seeds from the choc 7, no problem. I still have some isolated ones from last year, and am isolated again this year. It is a great pepper. I am planning to save some seeds from that one as well as the F1...

    Jacob's 2011 Pepper Porn

Thanks man! Still a ton out there with more setting every day. Good to be back. I hope I don't stay away that long again. Takes a bit of the joy out of the gardening when you don't share it. Here is a couple of more pics I just got uploaded: Douglah Cross F2. Interior view Didn't...

To seed or not to seed? That is the question

Kinda. Removing the seeds themselves doesn't reduce the heat, but if the placenta is still attached to the seeds it will reduce the heat. I remove the seeds for my sauces because I don't care for the taste if you bite into one. If you want to remove the seeds but want it hotter, try to leave...

    Jacob's 2011 Pepper Porn

Well, it only took a couple of months but I am finally able to get some pics posted. Work has been absolutely crazy all year, working 12 hours a day and most weekends. Between that and family obligation, it is a miracle the plants are still alive much less producing. At least it is starting...

    seeds Paper towel germination?

I take them out as soon as you see a taproot coming out of the seed. Waiting too long and it will start to grow into the towel. At that point though, you can just cut out the towel around the root and plant them together. The towel will rot away without a problem. jacob

A ? for those who isolate by bagging

It doesn't pull it off, but the problem I had when I used teabags was I either tied the string a little too tight and damaged the flowers or too loose and the teabag fell off. I don't have the gentlest touch so it wasn't effective for me. jacob

Completely Overwhelmed by Potting Mix Choices

Around here it is easy to find, but it isn't sold as pine bark fines. The name on the package is Soil Conditioner. Loses and Home Depot carry it as well as most nurseries. ACE hardware carryies bales of it made by happy frog I think which also includes worm castings. You can probably buy...

A ? for those who isolate by bagging

I have tried the organza bags before and didn't have any luck with them. Nearly all flowers dropped due the heat that builds up inside. Plus I would see small bees get stuck in the bag, so it wasn't isolating very well. The method I prefer is using elmers glue to keep the flower from...

shopping Where to buy Worm castings and bat guano

Both should be easy to find locally as well. Any good hydro shop will have both. Worm castings are easy to find at nurseries too. I recommend saving yourself some shipping costs and calling around locally first.

Completely Overwhelmed by Potting Mix Choices

First off, welcome to the forum! Miracle Grow can work, but there are definately better alternatives. Promix is great, same with Fafard's if you can get it. You can't go wrong with either, but both are a bit pricey though. You can try a local nursery to see what they have. I do a large...

    soil Soil Temp

First off, love the avatar. GO BLUE! Here's hoping for great things this year. The heat mat will stay at a fairly constant temp depending on the ambient temp in the room, but definately keep an eye on it as they sometimes will get too hot. Lost an entire tray of seeds last year when...
