SFRBs of My Hybrid Peppers - $18

Picked today, shipped tomorrow - $18 per SFRB (includes shipping), as many peppers as I can stuff in there.   HOT NARDS (x 3 boxes) - Jimmy Nardello hot cross. Starts sweet and finishes with a "whoosh" of heat. Hot Nards are very popular with the people at the farm who can't handle the super...

    Triple Cotyledon

About 1 in 10 or so of the Chinenses in my experience. My own hybrids do it a lot. I have never noticed any advantage though, as they all look about the same a few weeks later when the true leaves take over.

    Hello from Glendora CA

:welcome: I lived in Covina through high school (back when there was still some orange groves). My dad still lives there. It's a good growing environment with the right soil. Rumor had it the natural soil was too acidic from years of oranges. I always thought of Glendora as our nicer neighbor to...

Noah Yates' Peppers Tomatoes and Melons 2017

Holy cow, Noah, I tip my hat to you! Is this mostly by yourself? Are you growing just a few plants of many varieties?   I associate with a small farm (5 acre), but tomato and pepper varieties combined probably max out at 40 or so. We try to grow at least a whole row (75 feet) of one variety, or...

    thoughts on a aerogarden?

I ran a few to full size on the Ultra LED. Two plants max. They got big and were heavily pruned. Pod production was a bit sad compared to ooutside plants. Maybe there are some hotrod tips to help with fruit production but I think the tank size is a big limiter. For now, I am sticking to seedling...

Lots of pot sales today (GrassSnake)

Not. Much. Time. Left...     Are any of there special "beginner" kits any good - like this? I'm new to this stuff. http://www.homebrewing.org/Beginning-Homebrew-Kit-Upgrade-2-_p_1692.html

    CPR Pod Test

Thanks! Confirms my suspicions. Mine had poor production too. :(

Why not cross a variety again?

You sure can. That's why the Reaper is listed as a cross between a Bhut and Pakistani Habanero ...  :liar:  :liar:  :liar: Red Herrings aside, many people do the same (or very similar) crosses. Sometimes the results are very similar, but plenty of variation can exist. I think there are something...

Planning for 2017 - advice needed please

Of those mentioned, the habs and bhut (jolokia is my preference) would be the most prolific hots in your situation. Anything hotter can definitely grow but will be more challenging. You may end up with great plants, but minimal poddage at season's end.

    Why didn't my plant grow....!!!???

Welcome!   Could be several reasons: not enough sunlight, poor soil (peppers like an airy mixture - more perlite, vermiculite), pot not big enough (3-5lbs min to support more pods), feeding (not much, but nitrogren in the beginning to support growth). Way too much to list here. Dive into the...

    Lunchbox Peppers

My local farm grows these from seed. Sweet and crunchy. They are a bit bigger than you said - similar in size to a small, fat jalapeno. Some get even bigger.   http://www.johnnyseeds.com/p-8949-lunchbox-pepper-mix.aspx

    CPR problems

I have about a dozen CPRs doing much the same. Good looking plants, poor producers. I have never had a Reaper/Primo or derivative produce well ... Stopped growing Reapers a few years ago for that reason. CPR seems to be following that trend

    Has anyone tried grafting?

It would be great if you could keep a plant going for many years. Otherwise, it wouldn't be worth the effort. I think it would also be tough on typical overwinters due to the cutting back and longer stem die off.

    Million dollar shoes

Have you encountered the snack Nazis? Buttered popcorn is ok but granola bars with tiny bits of chocolate or caramel are not. Hummus with pita chips is ok, but not with tortilla chips. All peanut based products are off-limits because one Little Jimmy in the school is allergic. Some teachers...
