    scovilles Fresh Fresno vs Habanero

I've had a couple of chile's give me a serious unexpected burn. My first ripe jalapeno this year was an absolute BEAST. I had a pepperoncini that burned my face off too. My fresno's by comparison have been perfect - good round heat, excellent flavour. I'm actually in fear of half my plants. So...

Next year = no big tomatoes.

I think that is a great idea. Next year I may try this, maybe in combo with a big pot that has the bottom cut out. This way there is 12" of smooth pot with a "rim" point on an upward angle (like a Y) making it more difficult for the damned mice to get to the toms. And I think I will try some...

Bugs bugs bugs and wasted energy growing veggies.

It's nuts, last year I seemed to avoid some of these problems and actually got to eat my stuff but this year... well at least the peppers are doing great!

Ate my first half a carribean red today...

Had my first ripe carribean red today. Picked it and was wondering what to do with it. Sliced up half into a burrito for dinner (well more like a fajita with beef and veggies, no beans or rice in it) and chowed it down. Hot. Very hot. Sweat inducing hot. Hmmmm. I think all the fresno and...

    Jackass customers

Still do! Hell, I know how to swear in a couple languages where I can't even say hello properly. :( Honestly, love the food. And one of the absolute most beautiful women I ever met was an indian girl in my high school... I think it was neat to grow up there.

    Jackass customers

Great story BUT I have to take offense with this line. You sir, have not been to Surrey, BC, Canada. In my high school graduating class there was a predominance of indian people, primarily sikhs. At least 80% of the school was indian.

Bugs bugs bugs and wasted energy growing veggies.

So I see some of my cabbages are finally ready so I pull one up. It's infested from the inside out with earwigs, who have eaten 90% of the interior leaves... Pulled up a parsnip cuz it was all wilted looking even though I'd just watered. Some sort of maggot-like infestation. Grabbed a turnip...

Next year = no big tomatoes.

The mice are DEVASTATING my tom's they get a few of the cherries but I don't mind that. But they destroy anything larger. Last year I set out traps and killed 8 mice. This year I don't have the heart for it. What would you grow instead? They seem to leave most everything else alone...

Biggest tomato, or tomato plant smackdown

I had one tomato on my pruden's purple plant that overflowed my two hands cupped. Went away for a few days to a convention. Came back and the mice had eaten the ENTIRE THING and left just the stem and some core on the plant :( That was the BIGGEST and most perfect tomato I had ever seen too...
