cloning Can I clone pepper plants? If so, how?

I got a security warning from that link, might just be AVG tho'

    Sweetcorn

I got 20 out of 25 sprouted, they are a 72 day variety, would it be safe to sow a 76 day variety now? I have been told that the supersweet ones shouldn't cross pollinate.

    Apricot tree from a seed?

I had never heard of the Blenheim. so I looked it up, it was a seedling from a French variety called "Royal" So I say go for it, grow your pip and hope for the best. And as Aji Hombre said, it it turns out horrid then just graft a cutting onto the rootstock. Or, as I have seen recently, graft...

    Apricot tree from a seed?

You are probably right, but don't forget that new varieties all come from seedlings. There is always the chance you might get the next best Apricot ever! Just think of the Bramley apple.

    Sweetcorn

Amazing (to me anyway) those seeds only swelled up enough to resemble rice crispies, but they actually germinated!

I recommend sipping a teaspoon of vinegar, works every time but I don't know why!

    Sweetcorn

lol you are dead right there! Although they do happen occasionally.. I actually bought the seed to plant in my new house in southern Spain, but there have been so many delays I haven't been able to prepare the garden. You need a %&$%#* permit for everything.

    Sweetcorn

Thanks for that. So I haven't been sold a load of rubbish then! So does that mean that the more shrivelled the seed the sweeter the corn is likely to be?

    Anyone growing Plumeria?

I didn't mean like 5 minutes old! I meant less than maybe 5 years old, because you never know how long they have been on display. They just look like sticks to me, and to be honest, as far as most of us are concerned, they could be anything.

    fertilizer Milorganite Fertilizer, human sludge........

Wow! Just because of this thread I have looked into Monsanto. All I really knew about them was that they sued farmers for growing crops that were contaminated by their GM "experiments" instead of them being sued! I could never work that out! Now I know much more about the bad things they are...

    Reconditioning Cast Iron

I hope this doesn't sound daft, but do you connect the positive or negative to the pan? And what do you use as the other electrode?

    fertilizer Milorganite Fertilizer, human sludge........

Isn't MG produced by Scotts? I know that Scotts sell Monsanto products over here, but I thought they were seperate companies, I never really thought about it. So is Scotts part of Monsanto?

    Sweetcorn

I just put some Sweetcorn seeds out on damp paper to germinate them, and to be honest they look like cheap white corn flakes. I have grown sweetcorn before, but the seeds didn't look this dried out last time. The variety is Mirai White, is this normal, or should they look more like popping corn?

    Anyone growing Plumeria?

I have bought cuttings back from Hawaii, Florida, California and Las Vegas! Not one has ever grown. They are a lovely tree and I would love to grow them, but I am now convinced that you are just wasting money if you go to a tourist gift shop. I also need to find a good nursery and buy some nice...

    induction range

Wow! Appreciate the feedback. My new house has no mains gas or electric, and I will have to rely on solar and bottled gas, if I can eliminate the gas I will be a happy bunny. One thing I read recently is that some induction hobs can also be set to cook at a certain temperature, (probably just...

    induction range

I may be wrong, but as I understand it the pot can only get as hot as the boiling point of the contents of the pan. So I think your tea towels will be safe. I am considering getting an induction range for my new house, I know that my existing cookware will be ok but how do they compare with...

Looks like my son is deploying again

My respect to him and his colleagues, if I were thirty years younger I would be out there with them. Due to a bad career choice I didn't join the Army when I should have. I often regret taking the advice I was given at the time. It is hard to be "Diverse" when you know what is happening out there.

    Nepotism Pays

I would love to judge a wine competition, I certainly drink enough of it to know what I like. The problem is that every time I taste a wine that is supposed to be "Really good" I start thinking that with a litle olive oil, this might make a passable Vinaigrette! I like a wine low in acid and...

What makes a cider, a cider? and not something else?

As far as we (the British) are concerned, Cider is fermented Apple juice, the french call it Cidre('cos they can't spell ) and some other Europeans call it Apple wine. If you use Pears to make an alcoholic beverage it would be called a Perry. If you mix Apples with any other fruit and ferment it...
