    pics BigT plant pics 2012

1st ripe Butch T of the year. Butch T reinforcements. My two best plants by far this year are in Root Pouches - bye bye black plastic containers. Ripe Fataliis. Good size. More Fataliis. My 2nd favorite pepper after the Bhut.

    Fatalii - Yellow top leaves.

Try no nutes for a while. When I see yellow leaves it's usually too much water, fertilizer or overheated roots. (containers in full sun overheat the roots easily)

    JUST PICKED TODAY

Enuz - I dry mine at 135F - but I cut the pods in half before placing in the dehydrator. Takes about 12 hours to get them leathery. Save seeds from fresh pods, not dehydrated ones. Beautiful pods - very nice work.

Serrano Tampiqueno pods early this morning. The TS Morouga pod now fully ripened 1 day later. TS Morouga pod awaiting dissection. TS Morouga revealed. Holy crap this thing was hot. I ate half and it was certainly the hottest pod I've eaten in the last two years. Still, it is not to...

    plant #2 is dying.

Keep it in the shade until it recovers. It might take a week or so. Easy on the water - no nutes. It should be fine, we still have months left in the season.

seeds Seed Saving ,Drying and storage methods.

I scrape the seeds out into an old (labeled & cleaned) cat food can and let them air dry for a few days. Then dump the seeds into a small paper envelope. I write the seed type and year down on the envelope. Then store in a cool dry place. Seeds will last for many years.

My Jalapenos are huge but have less heat than a bell pepper

Grow some Biker Billy jalapenos - they are the most consistently hot I've tried. Huge pods that will light you up.

Butch T: Countless buds forming but not opening

My Butch T started in January hasn't formed any pods yet either. Other than that, it seems perfectly healthy. My advice - patience. Mother Nature will sort it out eventually.

Thanks Jeremy - these are the largest Giant Bhuts I've grown yet, though not quite to the size of your pods. Seeds were taken directly from those huge pods I got from you last year. Likely source for the Yellow Bhuts was Greg - (PIC 1). I have yet to grow them myself, but plan to next year...

Thanks Alph - the jury is still out on the grow bags for me. Some of my plants doing great in them, some not. Those Yellow Scorpions were great plants - my two survived the overwinter and are trying to make a few pods. Thanks Dani....the plants are from seed starts in Jan, Feb & March -...

Just a few pics this year - my good P&S close up camera broke. Anyway here's some of my better looking stuff. The heat has stunted a few, especially those in pots. Raised bed plants don't seem to mind, but they get afternoon shade. Scorpion Morouga & Butch T out back with buddies Giant Bhut...

    BER on Tomatoes?

I usually get that from over watering. Haven't had any signs of it this year in ground or pot plants.

Turning bhut jolokia powder into sauce.

WalMart has Valentina Hot Sauce in One Liter bottles for $1.97. I use that as my base and add other flavors and heat - especially with Bhut powder. Works well and is cheap and easy. Valentina Mexican Hot Sauce Muy Picante

    Supermarket pepper ID

It looks nothing like a Serrano to me - I've grown Serranos for years. My guess is Aji Colorado. Two links: List with description Large pic Looks like a nice sized chile worth growing.

How many pods on a Trinidad 7Pot plant?

I grew two Brain Strain plants (original seeds from Cappy) in 2009, one in a 5 gallon container and the other in a 7 gallon. Both did 105 pods, which, due to their basically inedible nature, gave me a lifetime supply of powder. Not to mention a bunch of pods still in a freezer bag. For some...
