Yup, the recipe did call for it, and I figured that since people use lemon zest all the time that it wasn't a big deal. It actually ends up quite tasty this way I think.

Thanks - I was mostly worried about bacteria/fungus/the fact that I didn't wash them at all before tossing them in the freezer. Wondering how much that'll matter.

Thanks guys for all the warm welcomes. :) Never been on a forum where the "Newbie Forum" gets so many replies within a few hours.   I'll definitely check out some of the reputable vendors and maybe grow a pepper that's a bit more available and not quite as hard to find info about.
