What should I do with this plant?

Agreed with everyone else, the flavor may surprise you in a good way, i wouldn't write it off just yet, it may even be tasty enough to harvest seed for next year.   Reduce gardening workload? Maybe reduce watering and eliminate the fert routine, the plant will then slow down growth and the pods...

    Unknown - Red - Hot!

Hot Hungarian Wax are usually still sitting upright (pendant) when they are that size.   They might be dwarfed Banana peppers though i have my doubts unless it's one of the obscure commercial varieties.   Edit: i see Ebay was the source. If that's the case it can be any one of a dozen varieties...

seeds Hoffman's Seed Starting Mix...What's in it?

Per Amazon: Canadian sphagnum peat moss, horticultural vermiculite, limestone (PH adjuster) wetting agent.   In the amazon reviews a few people stated seeing "twigs" which means it also has composted tree bark, forest humus, or something similar.

    Dry manure

Yes, a couple of weeks at the very least, but longer would be better, it depends on how much it's composted already.   Your average outdoor temps will also play a big part, If the bags get too hot or cold then the bacteria will not flourish.   Also note that chicken manure is pretty potent...

    Sick Plants...Too Much Light??

Is that Miracle Grow brand Perlite? I ask because that brand has some nutes in it, added to your other nutes it may have been a tipping point.   If it were me, i'd repot into soil with less nutes in it. Those plants are salvage-able and need not be thrown out yet. All of that recent nutrition...

    Deficiency?

More water may cause a nutrient lock-out all on it's own. The plants look great otherwise, i'd keep watering them the way you've been.   As for nutrients, the most i would do at this point is a weak formula using something more balanced, and not focus on just one or two nutrients.   Plants tend...

    CFLs...T8s...Best choice?

RogueJim, i'd say it's a few things, a result of the reflector, reflector shape (square, circular, rectangular), and wattage.   I cannot answer your second question with any first hand knowledge, so take the following info with a grain of salt: With seedlings and starts i'd say that 4ft is the...

    grocery store pepper id

I do see the resemblance.   If i'm not mistaken, the jamaican mushroom / squash pepper is an annuum type with a larger calyx (stem base) and would not have a chinense smell or taste.   I think there may be a chinense one with a similar sounding name though (?)

First ever grow - MH/HPS question

For a 36 cell tray, or even two of them? A 250 watt unit would be way more than enough. Reduced power usage and lower heat signature, a win win.   But, if you plan on expanding your operation, or bringing several plants indoors to continue growing in winter, then i'll go along with mx5inpa's...

Does anybody know what this one is?

Def not hot Banana with pods growing upwards. Yours look a lot like Hungarian hot Wax.   Not sure about the original poster's pods though, they do seem a bit different.

media Peat vs coco fiber. What one study shows

Should be no problem. Mix it in 50/50 with other potting soils or ingredients; Peat, bark fines, forest humus, with extra perlite, and i bet it will turn out well.   The coco bricks ought to store for a while so you may have some left for the following season.

    CFLs...T8s...Best choice?

Roguejim you're not wrong, and there are many here that use 400 watt HPS/MH (or higher) on their seedlings. You just need to be able to accomodate the light assembly and the added warmth, but it sounds like you have those bases covered.   The increased growth rate can be used to your advantage...

    CFLs...T8s...Best choice?

I think OKGrowin was right with his response. I have also heard that HPS+MH light carries further than CFL and T8 before it breaks up (better light penetration).   So it might be all of the above.

    CFLs...T8s...Best choice?

Not dumb at all, and the answer is yes if it's HPS or MH. Results vary, but 250 watts is 100 watts more powerful than the HPS in the review i linked.   In that review a 250 watt CFL @ 15,000 lumens squared off against a 150 watt HID @ 16,000 Lumens.   Also remember the 50 extra watts on your...

    CFLs...T8s...Best choice?

I think preference has a lot to do with it, and working with what you already have on hand. If someone already has a bunch of clamp lights or sockets, then CFL bulbs would make sense to use. Or if they are trying to aim all of those lumens into a tighter  spot, like in a grow tent, or underneath...

    CAP 219

I saw that the other day when looking up Cap 219.   That website mentions CAPH 219, which i don't think jibes with any official seed accession. That might be the website's own reference number, which makes everything confusing imho.

    Tall and scragly

Good point(s), hadn't thought of that, the only concern at this point is the lack of leaves.   And by the time they do get their leaves back, you probably won't want to bother with topping them off anyway, they'll look like normal plants.   And going by Mowhiskey's previous thread, a lack of...

    Tall and scragly

It wouldn't hurt. But if that's how they still look, then you can wait a teensy bit longer to see if some are already bushing out, then select your candidates.

    Rock dust

My last two garden plots were using dead "contractor soil". Another reason i kept going with it was price, i saw that a modest amount of Azomite can be stretched a long way. I mix some in the seedling potting soil, then later on i mix another spoon into each deep planting hole, along with a...

    Critique these two systems, please...MH...HPS...REVISED!!

I've read a lot of stories about IPower, Apollo, and i forget one other lower brand of digital ballast that causes interference with Cable TV systems (theirs and their neighborhood) and with wireless devices. The cable tv company triangulates the spurious signals and finds out who you are, if...
