fertilizer ok what about fertilizer (natural)?

you could indeed try multiple methods but I'm having problems already finding enough material for my current system (3,5 compost heaps - 0.5 is the lower one that the chickens can access and pre-process) so more systems would mean even more material to find (or less for my current system but...

fertilizer ok what about fertilizer (natural)?

'Normal' compost is just a fine you know - as long as you bring composted material to the soil; with it you bring life (little insects, good fungae,...) and the soil needs life more than 'fertilizer' there is quite some of the nutrients already in the soil, sitting there, unavailable for the...

    lipstick decapotated

hmm, I tried not to bury them too deep this season, maybe that wasn't the best technique for the lipsticks, and their 'blanket' was composed of vermiculite+sowing mix so maybe too light material - however 95% of the other pepper coped under the same conditions... a nice lesson to take along the...

    three cotyledons

apparantly not that uncommon, but however it was my first : some of my seedlings appeared to have three cotyledons. Of what I have read so far less than regarded normal (peppers two) usually gives weaker plants, more than regarderd normal not weaker but not spectacularly better either. One was...

    lipstick decapotated

Hi, been a while since my last visit but I have a question at the beginning of this new season. My Lipstick seedlings are having a strange issue : one got completely decapotated (the stem end in ... nothing but air), the other got very tightly stuck in the seed case (Lipstuck) and when I...

    Last harvest of the year

here the season ended abruptly too, when last tuesday it froze the bricks out of the walls... I've heard/read from people that they 'continue' growing the peppers on naked plants but is that possible after such a frost-event ? some peppers still look firm but others look like they have been...

    Lots of support

well, thanks all... as for the eye-saver I would like to suggest old tennisballs that can find in secondhand shops, or even just lying in your house doing nothing. Just put a hole in it and you place it on top of your cane. You can use the same technique if you would like to put nettings over...

    spirits hot pepper vodka

well it had quite some heat, only in that 48 hours. Most people didn't like it though ;-) probably the same sissies that feel proud when asking extra peppers with their kebab (anybody knows how many scovilles those sweeties have ?), or take sweet and sour in their 'favorite' thai restaurant...

    spirits hot pepper vodka

Hi, I discovered that I'm becoming someone's dad again in a few months and want to celebrate this with my friends at the next volleypractice in a few days. Would it be possible to infuse a bottle of Eristoff vodkawith some red cayennes on this short time (48 hours) ? Would 3 sliced in half...

    Lots of support

well the noob in me discovered one of the gardening rules the hard way : plants (and so do peppers) need support. Some of my pepper plants grew into plants to be proud of and than at some fine day would just tear into pieces even barely baring fruits yet. Some part of me says : what a dumb...

    heat level purple tiger

Indeed, when they are more mature (still in purple state though) they are hotter than that first experience. Two little ones in my pasta alla scoglio where too much for the misses, half of the little bells is enough the spice up the bowl of soup. I like this pepper, and it is loaded with fruits...

    nature's habbit

hehe, and I was hesitating if I should mention the nose picking and look what happened ;-) .... and I thought that the Bundies where an somewhat exagerated extreme American family; but I was wrong it was a documentary of the average family ;-) good too hear that there are other casualties lol

    breeding Pollination crossing confusion

Indeed, peppers don't need a hand when it comes to pollination, nature will do (wind, insects,...). Peppers cross pollinate easily so they needs isolation if you want the seeds of the fruits resemble the parent. To keep the characteristics you can either manually pollinate and seal the flower or...

    Only 5 more required

1000 is a nice milestone to look upon and I think it is fair to use it as a 'valid' number of appreciation when there was no real advertisement or any other means to increase the number of members as such. When you near that 1000, the least you can say is that 1000 people took the time and the...

    nature's habbit

How come that every time you cut a pepper gloveless ("ah, it's only that cute mild purple tiger...") and you know you should stop touching things for a while that everything starts to tickle ?? There is something in your eye (and there isn't), you suddenly HAVE to pick your nose (now I know why...

    heat level purple tiger

It is the first time I'm having purple tiger and it fits all the specs (purple small shaped, multicolored leaves,..) but I don't know about the heat level though. I have seen some catalogues giving it heat level 6 - as a newbie I would have to be on my guards than but it doesn't do me that much...
