1st year grow - Log + pictures

I was away for 2 weeks and when i got back i was surprised to see how much they grew! I left them in the care of my brother who didnt do as good a job as i had hoped but with a little care they should bounce back to their former selves! they're in 1.5 gallon pots with peat, coco coir, and i feed them hen fertilizers once a month. Enjoy!

Here's a list of what I have:

White Peruvian Habanero
Chocolate Habanero
Reb Habanero
Orange Habanero
Mustard Habanero
Jamaican Red Scotch Bonnet
Orange Scotch Bonnet
Fatali
Bhut Jolokia
Dorset Naga
Yellow Cayenne
Red Cayenne
Jalapenos
De Arbol
unknown F1 hybrid

+ a couple of weird hybrids

White Peruvian Habanero (in hydro bucket, no air pump, no ph adjustment, same nutrient solution for well over 2 months and plants are loving it haha)

Some late starters, I can probably overwinter these for next season: 2x Choc Habanero, Jamaican Red Scotch Bonnet, Fatali

thanks guys! i'm just gonna wait it out and see what they turn out like. you're probably right about the jamaican gold. i looked it up and it does look very similar to what i have. i tried a pod off the "bhut" the other day and it was hot!!

i'm potting up tomorrow into 5 gallon pots. using a similar mix of peat and coco coir (perlite, vermiculite, dolomite lime).

also, the building manager said i can use a section of the lawn surrounding the building for my plants next year (i'm thinking of growing only one variety next year to avoid cross pollination and harvest me some true seeds for the future - trinidad scorpion anyone?). maybe i can even set up a raised bed?

more pictures to come soon!

So I potted up everything over the last two days and took some pictures:

Here's what my balcony looks like now

These are the ones that I had started late so I transplanted them into the bigger pots and will overwinter them for next year.

Alpheon, thanks for stopping by!

Silver_Surfer - I've seen your grow log, makes me wish I had a larger/longer growing area/season lol good luck to you!

Your plants look great. When did you start seeds? It looks like you've got some tricks to get early pods. Anything special you do?

The F1 looks a bit like "super chili" to me.

i started everything under a 600 watt Metal Halide and fed them hydro nutrients for the first month. i sowed the seeds sometime around the end of febuary/early march. that coupled with the 600 watter probably boosted the growth stage. the white habaneros are from a plant i left in a hydro setup so that probably gave it a slight advantage over the others (everything else is in peat and i feed them composted chicken manure)

So I was away again for a month and upon my return my balcony was full of ripe pods! I picked a lot and some were made into sauce, some into powder. Here's a picture of what's left. Still haven't decided what to do with these.

Starting at the top jar and going clockwise:
White habanero/red trinidad scotch bonnet sauce in canola oil - 2 bhuts - Red Trinidad Scotch Bonnet - orange habanero - red savina - jalapeno - de arbol - orange scotch bonnets (look a lot like a habanero) - bhuts that have been crossed with something (some of the pods look like bhuts but less wrinkly and some look fatter, almost like a habanero)

Enjoy!

Oh yeh, the bottom jars are: powdered yellow cayenne on the left and powdered red cayenne and super chilli on the right

Thats a pretty good harvest. Hows the yellow cayenne flavor?

thanks millworkman! from what i remember it's about the same as a regular cayenne (same heat level too) i have some in a food dehydrator right now but they're turning brown... any ideas on what i can do to keep them from changing color?!

Looks like things are going well for you.

I am not positive but I believe the lower the drying temperature the better your pods will retain their color.
