outdoors a fishing thread

spontaneous night fishing trip netted me this nice king fish and $50 in prize pool money. lost out on the free return trip for the biggest fish however to a cow (female) dolphin [Mahi.] Fortunately said dolphin was not entered in the prize pool, so the prize went to the second biggest fish of the night- mine. A cobia that was 1/2 inch under regulation was also released by another angler.

We were in about 130-180 feet of water at the time.

All these fillets in this 13x9 inch pan came from the same king fish.

Kings are very tasty if handled very minimally
Less you do after the hook set the better they taste
If your down with it,Sashimi on the boat deck is wonderful

Check out this monster.

Well another Trout opener in the books. Numbers were down compaired to the last 5 years but still a lot of fun. Bass season doesn't start for another 2 months here but I had the best unintentional Bass opener ever. Found some new water to fish for the coming years, always a bonus. Not as many pictures this year either, had some camera problems

Love the brownies. All fish were 12-20 and rowdy on 3 wt gear. This place has possibly the best green drake hatches on this half of the country. Starts in about 2 weeks. I have never seen bug activity like at this place. Flipped over a rock and made me get itchy. I am used to trying to pull brownies out of cover, was nice seeing them rising everywhere.

Most of the small runs in that area are loaded with brookies,I just didn't have time to hit any. Small runs are the best fishing, the only asshole around is me!

Found a few Slabs. Been tough this year, almost have enough crappie in the freezer for a fish fry.
