We catch'em with rod and reel here, more fun then gigging
Frogs are F'n vicious feeders, they stuff that plastic worm in their mouth like a beast
1/0 hook set brings them to the bucket
Corn flour and corn meal mix awaits their arrival
Aint just the legs that eat good, that WHOLE critter is tasty

In prep for a fly in trip I have coming up in a couple of weeks, I wanted to hit some Brookies on the fly. Mother nature had something else in mind so the fly gear was rather useless, not for the lack of trying though. Most of the easy fishable spots were devoid of life so we had to mountaineer our way to some not so easy spots. There used to be a canoe on this lake but guess someone else thought it would be better in their garage, it was there for years. Caught on Black Fury's & it was on fire for about a hour

They do but they dont eat near as good nice flathead.
Flatheads dont eat dead trash, unlike blues and channels that eat most anything.
Very misunderstood cat fish species

I agree. I usually throw the blues and channels back.

My girlfriend's father is in town and we went fishing today. Only one engine worked so we didn't get to do the fishing I wanted to do to get him his big catch. We caught tons of good size grunts which we released and a few mutton snapper. I told him if he wanted to get his big catch he could do some night fishing off the boat / dock. Two rods were out, one with a 4/0 circle and 40# fluorocarbon leader and 30# braid and a filleted mutton carcass. That line went out for 20 seconds and cut off at the braid. Had to be a shark. About 30 minutes later, second line starts zinging. This time it's on the 8/0 circle with a treble stinger all on wire and a 30# mono with a bimini twist knot. We get this puppy in, and it's the same shark, but we're not even hooked on it. It's caught on the old line that we hooked it with before and about 15 ft of the braid trailing it. Finally, the hook snaps and we get everything off the shark, including the old leader and braid and our metal leader and hooks. He was about 6ft and 100+ pounds.
