outdoors a fishing thread

A lot of the ones here have a blue tint. We fish them within 1,000 of shore a lot of the time. Not sure that that has anything to do with it.

Recent one my buddy caught...it sat in the well for a couple hours before we got the pic. You can kind of see the blue ...

I’m not doing a lot with Chiles these days, so I appreciate the other forums.  Thanks keybrdkid for starting this.

I’m doing a lot of lake fishing this season and will be contributing to this thread until at least mid October, and then I’ll be back next April.

I caught this Largemouth Bass this past Saturday, when N.Y. Bass season opened:

Sweet haul BigB, nice work. I see most, if not all, were speared. How deep do you find yourself going for a catch like that?

It seems my line and reel fishing days are mostly behind me. Still love it, but spearing is more fun, exercise, productive and less drinking.  This past round we went out between the 1st and 2nd reef. Anchored up, was probably around 35ft. The current wasn't as bad as it has been lately, so we swam around the perimeter. I got a stringer of 2 hogs and a cero in the first 30 minutes, then we decided to detach the anchor and attach the anchor line to me and we'd swim/drift our way back to the 1st reef transitioning to about 15-20ft. We were probably swimming from 12-3.

I have a cousin that works for the Palm Beach Police dept that takes his cayak out by himself and dives for whatever...he goes out the inlet where tiger woods house is...don't know the name of the inlet...I have only been down there one time....maybe Jupiter inlet?  He had three bull sharks circling underneath him on his ascent and they got so close he skipped his last decompression stop...and he has video of it...

that's definitely scary. I haven't seen any sharks that I should be wary of, but they're out there. It's when you have a dead fish attached to you that you should worry lol. Luckily we're free diving, don't go too deep and no decompression needed lol. Got the video?

Jupiter is slightly north of WPB, so that could be it. Not sure where tiger woods lives.

That's a decent depth to be diving at, it sure looks like you're producing a good catch at any rate.

I completely understand what you mean regarding line vs spear fishing, it's a whole other world down there.

I finally have my boat ready, can't wait for summer.
