outdoors a fishing thread

Stunning pics PS, magazine quality imo. Nice work on the trifecta...... :P  An absolutely beautiful location to be in by the looks of it, to get on to quality fish is an added bonus for sure. The colors on that Brookie are something else.

Well most of this ice season has passed me by as at work we're really busy getting ready for a FDA audit, so last weekend I broke away for a few hours to try and hook up with some Lakers, no luck. But it will definitely be the last weekend for me as the ice was real sketchy. Bring on the spring steel!!!!

I had plans to go to LOTW a couple weeks ago for lakers, but didn't go because the ice was crap from what I heard (walking out from where we go isn't really an option).

All the lakes around here are wide open now.

A few questions:

What is that saw like blade that appears to be in its mouth?

Is that a Texas Rigged Senko rig?

yo dragon,    i get that bait there off the internet.  bills scented lures.  it does catch , you cast it out and reel in slow...tyhe bait makes a screwing motion ..the only down side is that the bait has 3 little exposed hooks and gets hung up alot. so if you order some, get a few.

i went fish the pond yesterday and i looked into about 10 bass...all had the same looking gill plates things.  the bite was on, nice size bream but the bass were smallish.

The Catskill Mountain lakes finally unfroze and I got to go fishing.  I was hoping to get some trout, but it is still too early.  I ended up landing mostly Yellow Perch and Pumpkinseed Sunfish along with a few Common Carp.  I spent money like crazy on lures over the winter and ended up getting all of my fish with cheap worms!

Thanks for the correction.  I got my initial ID from somebody working in a local Agway, but internet pictures confirm the true identity.

Any idea how it ended up in a small lake in the N.Y. Catskill Mountains that isn't connected to any other body of water?

Bait stores used to sell them, they are also known as redfin minnows. One of the many reasons for the live bait laws in NYS.

Loaded up the pickup and dragged the small boat out to the coast for the weekend. We got lucky with the weather.

Pee stop: Had the whole state park to ourselves...

Fishing on the lake...We slaughtered. around 25 fish in a few hours; no real fish in hand pics (we go barb-less catch and release and almost never touch them; There are some fragile stocked trout mixed in that don't eat well so no sense in keeping or killing them). They do fight hard and are quite healthy. Big Mike wrangling a hold-over.

As you can see...pretty decent sized fish
