Just about impossible for them also. Really only 2 good weekends this season. I've only gone once. Erie had 110" of snow in December, then weeks of single digit temps froze the streams over. Last Friday 3.5" of rain and 60F temps. That Saturday it was single digits and 10" of snow. I will fly fish in any condition out there, but can't get a good drift on 3" of ice.

I've tied 200+ nymph and emerger patterns and 100+ Catskill and Wulff dries. I'm up to March Browns which don't pop until late April here. Need to donate a few of these to the trees soon!

Nice weather you have there.

My number one fly to tie on in winter and spring is a size 18 Griffith's Gnat.

Fished wet or dry.

Because.

Midges.

I don't tie dries under 20,but nymphs down to 24. We have the winter stones and midges, but nothing really rises until March around here.. Mid-March the Baetis start on the limestone streams and it can't come quick enough. Tied some different patterns this year in size 18.

And if they aren't nibbling on invisible shit,it's good to throw some big fucking meat at them.

I'm diggin' the peacock copper john on the scud hook.

I guided and fished more or less the same fly for rainbows on the Agulowak and Agulapak rivers in Alaska.

Like candy.

Just get it in the water.

Great looking flies, Pr0d! I swear, catching a fish in a river with a tiny fly like that feels like half presentation and half telepathy.

Definitely a guide fly. Easy two minutes or less. I don't have a huge need for them, but I tie alittle of everything. This is my first year tying dozens of each life stage of each major hatch here in the east. Really pretty new to FF'ing in general though.

Trip from hell this weekend. Fishing sucked, weather sucked, photos sucked. Was supposed to get up to 44 Friday, made it to 34. Cold and rainy today also. Snow is just about gone but all the logging roads were covered in 2" of ice.Damn near slid over a few cliffs.

I'm going to start figuring this serf perch fishing out. The guy in this video caught seven fish with his first four casts! I know it won't be this easy because you have to know where the fish are (it's a big ocean). But I spend a good amount of time at the beach and dog would love all the off leash time and freedom

Weather sucked.

Fishing sucked.

Photos sucked.

Yes.

That sucks.

But you still had a better day than 99.999999999 percent of the people on this planet.

And thats life.

I prefer that shit happens to me too!

Rather than sitting on a couch watching it on TV happen to someone else.

The midge talk from a bit back gave me some inspiration.  I tried a generic post pattern on a size 30.

WTH?

Parachute grizzly on a size 30 hook?

How awesome is that?

None more awesome!

I don't even know if anyone makes a tippet that is small enough to tie a size 30 on.

10x?

1/2  pound test?

I can't tie it.

I can barely see it.

But fish do.
