I think I’ve done the grow down about 2 times in the past. What a coincidence I also grew the Aji Charipita this summer. Although mine were much smaller in 3 gallon grow bags. I can’t believe that one plant or should I say mini tree pepper guru has grown. I would like to grow a pepper plant close to that size. What’s the secret? Homemade compost? I need to investigate.

Lots of diesel fuel and don’t forget topping for yield! You want to top them just under the cotyledons for maximum fruit production!

Hey @bpiela I will need your address, send me à private message!

Happy holidays🎅

Ok... I kept hearing members wanting to try a bell type C annuum this year so we can finally put to bed the blanket statement that "bell types don't get huge or "bell types are determinate".

In 2018 Jen and I traveled to Costa Rica together for the first time (my second trip). On that journey, we ran the route I used for my first visit. San Jose to Arenal/La Fortuna then down to Punta Arenas for the Ferry to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. As you make your way into the Arenal area you notice the biome change and start to see a lot of farming activity. Anyway, while in La Fortuna/Arenal I swung through all the usual spots. Little tiendas with no google maps listings, the larger super mercados, and the small bicycle fruit stands that often pop up at random. This one Capsicum annum I kept seeing stood out... it's label simply read "Aji Dulce" or the seller would call them "Aji Dulcecito". Obviously one of the many Pimiento varieties throughout Central and South America. I've enjoyed growing and eating them for several seasons since that trip. Non bitter like many "Bell" types. If people want to give these a go and will adhere to the entry requirements, I'll supply them.

How they would generally look in Costa Rica, (top left sitting on passports):

And how they look for me when I grow them in 15 gallon bags:

I can’t speak of that variety specifically, but I’ve had traits pop up later that were not present the season before. So it’s not unheard of to see the mutant form present itself again. It would be interesting to see how it matures. Be sure to take some pictures!
Hell yes!! Let's do this

Let's go!

Wife would definitely like that. She always complains that I only grow peppers that are way too hot and have a bad taste (= bonnets)...

Ok. If I don't hear any more cultivar candidates, that's what I'll do then. I also have a t shirt order going out to Canada so maybe @Deadpouk would be so kind as to distribute to the other Canadian contestants?
Im not from Canada but from France, would it not be easier to send from the us to Canada? I could do it but just asking 😂
but i can send them to the other european grower :)

OOOPS!!! Maybe I should actually read the shipping labels! Hahah! Scratch that idea then! LOL I will however make sure yours are in there.
My vote goes to TwistyTown for 2025 growout
I BET! Hahaha! Better talk to Florida man, Bryan Townshend for that dream growdown throwdown possibility!
