I am half way finished harvesting and ran out of room on my table so I took a picture to post and will post another one (maybe 2) before the harvest is finished...not a very good picture but there is 16 pounds of peppers on this table....

There is a chance of frost tonight...so I am picking the ripe peppers today...

back in a bit with another picture...

Wow !

thats just amazing AJ !

i made my first chili powder today from small basket of Bhuts and Savinas,

and you were right about the bite, it seems to decrease a little in a dried form..still very bloody hot ! but without the pain..lol

great harvest, i cant wait until i get a batch like that next season..we may have to talk about it soon, i may need some tips..lol

laughing at myself now...they cancelled the frost warning...but I needed to harvest anyway....here is the rest of what I picked today....I will pick the tabascos tomorrow morning and post pic for complete harvest...the superhots are full of pods and hopefully with the frost warning cancelled, I will start to get some real dorset nagas, bhut jolokias, naga morich, and some very nicely shaped devils tongues that are almost 3 inches long...

here is a listing of what I picked by name and weight...

it took me 5 hours to pick these peppers...

forgot to say...my second year Orange Habanero plant passed 1,000 produced peppers today...

AJ,

12.5 kilograms!!! Wow! I know you grew a lot of peppers but still, that's amazing (what an understement). My 40+ plants have produced about 500 grams of dried peppers at the most, though I have one last chance (Sunday) to add to them.

I hereby award you the Official "Pepper Grower of the Year 2008 - NOrthern Hemisphere" award.

But before your head swells too big, I had more harvest than you! True, it was only one or two peppers at a time, but still....

Congrats on a great season, AJ. You deserve it.

Mike

just WOW!!! on 2 accounts.
1st the harvest is great!! congrats!
2nd that you count the pods from your hab plant & weigh the pods of what you harvest.

how many pasillo bajio plants did you grow to get that number of pods ? the couple I grew seemed like they only grew around 8 - 10 pods per plant, I never counted nor payed attention to that so just guessing.

Dear lord, this is going to get interesting to say the least after you retire AJ, i can just imagine all the charts you will have time to make!
Your results are just superb, i hope that by the time i am around your vintage AJ that i have half the pepper growing skills you have

thanks all for the nice comments...makes me blush...

Mike...I don't think I can touch several of the other members here for pepper production...thanks for the vote of confidence though...I have said it many times before....there is no way I could have had the success this year without the advice and support from all of the members here

CH...the O. Hab is the only one I counted pods on...and the reason is I just wanted to see how many pods this second year plant would produce...can you imagine a 2nd year 7 Pot or one of the other superhots producing that many pods?......I had 5 Pasillo Bajio plants of which 4 were really healthy and one was kinda sickly...

Margarida...no use to be humbled by me, I am just starting to really learn how to grow peppers...I made so many mistakes this year, it is a wonder I had as good of a year as I have had...

Nova...I learned it all here and from reading thousands of pages of literature on every facet of peppers...I am truly obsessed with pepper growing...as far as the charts go, I wish I had kept the weight of all the peppers I have harvested this year...I will next year...

Excellent work all round AJ...im drooling over here in West Aus...Just planted 500 seeds cant wait now...oh cant wait lol! Come on little chilli seeds! Come on!

AJ,

When are you going to release the pdf version of your book, "How to Grow Hot Peppers - the Inside Secrets from the Heart of Texas"?

Guy, you have to be doing a whole lot right. Not just in the volume but th number of significant harvests.

Mike

Even with the many plants you have, this is amazing! A load of great looking peppers, my friend!

I'll bet your dehydrator has already paid off a thousandfold!!!
