Alert Alert Alert!!!!!!!!!!!

Its seldom I am serious but I just got this e Mail an Thought I should pass it on. This is not a joke.

I received this warning from Internet Explorer. I am passing it on to you as a courtesy. Normally I would not pass on emails sent to me, bu t this warning is from Microsoft.
Anyone using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.

This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail with a Power Point presentation ' Life is Beautiful ' If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately.
If you open this file, a message will appear=2 0on your screen saying: 'It is too late now; your life is no longer beautiful.
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHI NG IN YOUR PC, And the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e- mail, and password.
This is a new virus, which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity and the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it.
The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.
PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

Rule 147 of the internet: Anything that pops up is lying to you.

Rule 275 of the internet: Thou shalt not receive warnings from Internet Explorer, for thall shalt useth Firefox.

Hate to tell you dick but, any time you get an e-mail like that it's bs. Companies just don't send out alerts to people like that:
Life is beautiful-- Virus hoax (www.McAfee.com)

I got one today. I opened it. Mine said "Life Sucks". Nothing happened. Must be a different one.

Thanks DictT, but a search for "Hoax Life is Beautiful" turned up all of this:
If *anything* you get says: "Send this to everyone you know", you can be sure it's bull. That phrase is designed to do nothing but tie up servers with email flooding.
The point is usually for them to see how far it goes, they think they are famous when it gets mentioned everywhere. What's worse is most of those missing kid alerts are bull and people post them everywhere. Messing with people emotions and wasting people's time. The same energy could go into posting a real alert. Only trust news from valid sources whether it's a virus or anything else. If it's something that's been forwarded to you, it's bull.

I love the ones that people send around that promise to make them thousands of dollars from Microsoft, or the one that if you send it on to ten friends you will get a free laptop, etc etc etc... I can't believe these actually get forwarded - are people really that naive or optimistic?

yep!

The real problem is that these warnings serve the same purpose as the virus does: they get spread widely and clog up everybody's hard drive.

i liked the one that convinced people they had a virus and then they end up deleting a system file. that was precious.

Haha I've never seen that one, however I have convinced a person over instant messaging to delete a crucial system file. Told them after that they had to restart for change to take effect. Logged off then never logged back on.

That's kinda like when playing games online and someone asks you how to do something, you tell them they have to press alt-f4. It's hillarious.

Me:"Hey noob, to refill ammo just press alt-f4"
Noob: "kool thzx"
Noob has left the server.
