Anyone know this type of SB?

Hi,

Does anyone know the type of scotch bonnet shown in the images? I had only one plant survive this year, but the smell and taste of the pods is typically SB. The pods are however up to 2 inches in diameter and are dark yellow / orange. Anyone know more?
The seed came from the Caribbean.

Does anyone else think the bottom view looks similar to a 7pot? I am NOT saying I think it is one, just saying the look of it.

I was first of all thinking about a "5-pod" too. But, just found this:

Seems to be a Jamaican SB.

Hi Rich,

I will look in the local farmer stores, but is one site offering garlic. They are the cloves though, approx. half a lb per package.

The one I always get is l'ail rose de l'autrec.

Looks like a plump Scotch Bonnet, as in, it is so plump it slightly lost the bonnet shape. Very nice ones!!

The color and side profile sort of puts me in the mind of a Goat pepper....as discussed and presented in this thread. Bottoms not as crickle but color and sides look similiar....to me.

If that's a yellow Scotch bonnet, and Scotch bonnets aren't bumpy, then I wonder what I had. My "Yellow Scotch Bonnet" from ChilePlants.com was yellow, but was bumpy as well. And they were good, but I was questioning whether they were really scotch bonnets, and now I'm questioning it even more. Are there any strains of yellow Scotch bonnets that are bumpy?

Yes, several yellow Scotch bonnet varieties have cool looking barbs/bumps
Cool, thanks for clearing that up--I always thought, being so close to habaneros, they didn't (and all the bonnets I've seen online were smooth). I thought that was mostly a trait of the superhots, like bhuts, nagas, scorpions, 7-pods, etc. All I know is, those Scotch bonnets were goooood. :)

I grew a "Foodarama Scotch Bonnet from Beth at Peppermania in 2009 and was very pleased with the shape and heat of the pod...definitely a chinense...heat about equal to an orange habanero...I ruined my seeds for 2010 and didn't grow them 'cause they didn't germinate...found them again on Beths site and ordered a dozen packs...some of the pods on these plants kinda resemble your picture, but most have a much more bonnet shape...

check the third picture in post number 2 of this thread and it will show you a green one...

just checked...the Cachuka is a bonnet shaped red chinense...I am ecstatic...
