also tried my first papa dreadie. it was damn hot. lol  didn't get a good pic cuz some bug took a nip before I got to it. I just cut around that and gave it a try.

ive got a bunch on the plants. I was starting to think they wouldn't turn red.  when green I didn't like them at all.

Glad they're finally turning for you.  Last year my bishop's crowns (along with aji panca) were by far the slowest ripening pods I grew.  The b crowns produced like crazy, but it was painful watching them just hang there forever until they started to flash color - and even then they weren't fast to finish. Ultimately though lots of big ripe pods and great taste, despite no heat.

that's exactly where I am. Ive got close to 100 of them and only 4 turned color so far. was starting to think they didn't turn. lol

online I didn't find too many pics of them any color but green as well.

Looking great, Scott, lots of awesome color.

Those Bishops Crowns, being baccatums, do
take a long time to ripen. Ive only grown it once,
but the plant was 6-7 feet tall and loaded with
pods, most of which never got ripe!

sounds about right on par with where mine are.  reaching five feet and still going, loaded with green only pods. hoping I have time for them to ripen.

Peppers look great, lots of color. Are those red peppers with massive corking jalapenos? They look crazy

those are farmers jalapeno.   to me doesn't taste anything like a regular jalapeno. I don't like them raw. cooked they taste fine.  its a really interesting pepper to grow.  starts out green and almost immediately onto the corking.  its pretty wild to watch it grow and change.

Do any of your Farmers Jalapenos have ANY heat? I grew them a few years ago with seeds from multiple vendors and not a single one had any heat to it. I have since switched to Emerald Fire Jalapenos as my main jalapeno plants. Big, juicy thick walls with decent heat.

I haven't noticed any heat what so ever in any of mine.

I haven't heard of those kind.  sounds interesting.  if you end up with some extra seeds id love to have some to try.

I know I have saved seeds from previous years. They are all packed away right now but I will likely find them before your next season starts. Just a note, my saved seed is all OP. Occasionally there is a surprise.

no big rush it'll be a few months.

all of mine are currently op anyway.  sometime you get good surprises. lol   this year I got my weirdest. I had green to black and ripen to red cayenne.  that was a shock.

Interesting they look super cool, but the no heat thing is kinda a deal breaker. Jalapenos are mild, but I want a bit of spice.

im not sure where the jalapeno comes from in the name. if you want any heat this isn't one you'll want. it is an unusual plant and very interesting looking peppers.

I ended up grilling some with a few brats and they weren't too bad.

It's a neat pepper either way.

Lots of nice colors in all those pods Scott! Congrats on the huge harvests ;)

I grew the farmers jal last year, same take on them. Now growing the Zapotec Jals, year 2. We liked the purple ones too..

thank you!

zapotec is high on the list for next year. I need to aquire some seeds. ive heard nothing but good things from them.

my purple and black jal have grown lots but the size isn't very much. I mainly use them to make pickled hot rings.

can anyone tell me what *%&#@!*&^$#@! pest is doing this?    this was going to be my first reaper. at least that's what the plant was labeled.  started it from seeds. even though its off pheno the leaves look correct.

ive had this happen several times now and its always on the first of the hottest peppers im growing! they put a tiny hole in it and then leave it alone.  its only happening on the 350k scoville and higher peppers. id say its not a bird cuz this is 3 feet off the ground but I could be wrong.

still unsure if this fatalli is a type I cant find a pic of online or if its been crossed.  but they're deadly hot.
