Beehunters Grow log - Now with Awkward video update.

Hey all. As you can see im new here and new to gardening in general. Ive been lurking around the site for a while now preparing for this grow. Ive got some African birds eye that just sprouted and soaking some other seeds now to go in the incubator tonight. Ill post pics of the sprouts later. Figured this is a good way to get to know people and great place to get advice.
Happy growing!

Hey Bee,

Luckily you escaped some major damage from the hail storm. We get an occasional bad one come thru and I've seen cars dented like a golf ball.
The red bhut looks mighty ripe.........and they do take some time to get there
Your plants have that "Healthy Green" appearence.............nice

Greg

Sorry to hear about the hail damage, but glad they survived it. I'm very impressed with how much you are getting out of the little space you have! And that's a nice ripe bhut you have!

Yea i feel pretty lucky after a walk around the neighborhood and seeing all the damage the unprotected trees and the cars took. I was pretty crazy for sure. Plants are very green and im really happy about it. Now if i could just get a few more strings of good weather i would really get cranking. thanks for stopping by.

Thanks man. we work with what we've got. Ive got a small balcony and not the best weather for chilies but ive got drive :) It is pretty rewarding now that im getting more and more ripe pods. but i really cant wait for my first real harvest. So far its just pulling a pod here and there. Thanks for checkin in!

Glad you and your plants survived the hail storm. What doesn't kill them will only make them stronger. That bhut is a beauty. Now eat it

I dont know if it will make them stronger or not but it for sure has made them a bit uglier :). Man i made a bhut dipping salsa the other day and me and my wife set around eating and sweating till it was all gone. I got no idea how or why guys eat them thing straight. I know i need to at some point but im scared as hell.

Hey guys. Hadnt been to much to update lately. No big harvest yet. Im still pulling a few pods a week of my plants. Enough to keep me satisfied but not enough to need to worry about making sauces or powders yet. Just enough to have a bit of fresh salsa or to though in the cooking. Speaking of, my wife made a cheese rissoto with onion tomato and fresh habs in it. Good Glowdy was it good! My plants are going alright. They are still just on the verge of getting enough sun i think but so far it looks ok. Yellow 7's are still loaded down. Ive only gotten one ripe one so far. My scorpions are putting on pods now but none have that classic scorp shape. Wondering if my seeds are pure or not. My bhuts are also stacked up with pods so hoping to get a good large harvest soon and test out the dehydrator. All the none chinenses are full of pods too. Im constantly just grabbing jals and putting them on my sandwiches or as a side with a meal. Ok here is a few pics. The first two are of my "cull plants" the seedings i didnt have room for all went into a survival of the fittest pot and have been living as a window plant. Now its getting some ripe bhuts on it as well as a few jals.

well thanks for stopping in and reading my poor written ramblings.

Looks healthy though :) Could be because of the bad weather or is the weather over there better then here? The temps are really low and it's raining everyday over here which makes most plants outside almost stop growing.

Nice progress Beehunter.

This Butch T doesn't really look like a Scorp, but give it time for new pods. It's not unusal for them to develop few non Scorp looking pods at the beginning, especially if the weather conditions weren't good.

You are doing well considering your restrictions. With the jump in interest of these superhots, it is going to be an uphill battle to find legit seeds. I for one will not spend another cent on seeds again. Just embrace whatever they turn out to be,and like PIC1 always says.. Hopefully they taste good.

Hey Bee,

I see you're starting to get some ripened pods. It only takes a few for a puree or a chutney............. that would make a nice ice box condiment.
Those yellow 7's look tasty

Greg

Looking good Britt. I am amazed at how you grow in such  weather. Those bhuts will creep up on ya and kick you where the sun don't shine.

Yea man. the weather here has been rough. we had a week of solid warm temps with afternoon thunderstorms and my plants loved it. they exploded! but now it has cooled off and clouded back up. They really seem to do best when day temps are in the upper 20's and nights and in the upper teens. with lots of daytime sun. But im still happy with the way things have been going.

Nice progress Beehunter.

Yea we will see how it goes. If they are not butch t's im not gonna be too tore up about it. I will wait and see how the new pods turn out.
Thanks for checking in.

Yea that is a good point. and i knew nothing about supers really when i started my grow. So we live and learn. And i do hope they taste good cause i got a bunch of em comin :)

Hey Greg! Hows windy city livin? Yea those yellow 7's do look good! cant wait to get a bunch of em ripened. I did actually make a small batch of hab puree. Its a great and easy way to spice up a dish quickly. Thanks for taking the time to check me out.

Yea ive been lit up by the bhuts a few times already :) And i discovered that my wife says she never has fiery bathroom breaks. i said she is full of it. but she says its true. so ima have to put her to the test soon!!

Been along time since i had an update! I havent had near enough THP time lately. Its starting to stress me out :) i dont know how long its gonna take me to catch up on every ones logs. but ima due my best to do it this week. We have had a pretty good streak of nice weather around here and you can see it in my plants. They are covered up in pods! Got a nice little harvest at the end of last week and looks like i will get another small one this week. Gonna have to try and make some powders soon just for fun. I got a few bags of salsa in the freezer now saving up for leaner times. Also i made a small amount of basicly chilli puree. it was awesome. Anyhow. here is my little harvest pic. thanks for stoppin by.

Dude, your wife is a stud-ette

Great balcony harvest, Britt! You have just exceeded my total
output by 1000%! I'm only not committing suicide because I
know that August and September are great growing months
here; of course that brings out the pests, as well :( Starting to
notice some chew marks, and a couple of pods with holes in them.
I just hate to start spraying stuff around, although I did get some
Bonide Fruit and Citrus mix - pest and disease control. Also have
some Neem in case nuclear war is necessary! Will have to be more
vigilant. That is one thing in favor of your balcony grow; the buggers
have a harder time finding the plants!

Glad to see that you are having success there, Britt!
Good growin' to you,my friend!

Hey thanks Dave. I guessing you are enjoying some pretty awesome water temps right about now! Yea for some reason this time of year it seems pretty hard to keep up with everything thats goin on! Thanks for the ideas. Its forsure time to start figuring out some ways to save some heat for the offseason. So far ive made some salsas and frozen them. Tried my hand at a viniegar based sauce with the yellow 7s since they seem like the easiest to make. Taste pretty damn good for a vinegar base. the next time i pull pots it should be quite a few so that will be the time to try a powder i guess. Looks like you had plenty of heat to take out with you this time around. Safe trip.

Good growin' to you,my friend!

Paul always a pleasure my friend. You humble me but i know you are getting ready to have some big time pod pulls over there! Im also not a fan of having to spray stuff all over the plants but if it comes to war... the bastards gotta die. And you would be surprised how many of those bastards can make it up to the balcony...

Cant wait to see once you start pulling your massive harvests in!

Great harvest Britt. Can't wait to see how your powder turns out

Thanks Jamie. We will see how it turns out. im gonna wait till the next go round to give it a go. Good news is i still got plenty of shanes powder around untill then. Always a pleasure to have you grace my blog Sir.

Great harvest! Again, I'm amazed and impressed with what you are doing on a balcony! Well done.

Thank you thank you. Im also amazed what these plants can do with a small space and the limited sunlight that they actually receive on my balcony. but it seems to me they just wanna grow and make pods so i do my best to stay out of there way. I do wish i had a spot like you got there in the hard though. i think i would increse my number of plants by quite a few :)

Dang. What are ou doing on the fourth page. Can someone say BOOOOST!!!! Your harvest looks amazing. Picks of what you make with them pods would be greatly appreciated. I'm such a foodie
