beer Being Crafty

Now that photobucket is finally back up...

I was really stoked to try his beer out, because I love RIS, and it has such stellar reviews. The problem is that the beer went bad somehow. It was still carbonated, but tasted like straight up metallic, and like marmite/vegemite, without the saltiness. The aroma smelled like a freshly opened jar of marmite. I know that definitely isn't the way the beer is supposed to taste/smell, so I'm positive it went bad. Really weird.

Lots of dextrines remain in that beer - would geyser if infected, so maybe autolysis, although they centrifuge, I think ...

GM all kidding aside maybe I got a bad one too?

cause I was thinking to myself if this is what GM considers amazing beer he's cray cray..lol

It definitely went bad. All of the reviews describe it with hazelnut, chocolate, espresso aromas, with dates, cherries, and chocolate in the flavor.

I didn't get a single one of those. It literally smelled and tasted like vegemite. If that is was what is is supposed to smell/taste, which I know it's not, then they should start selling vegemite in the US to all of the reviewers giving 4.5-5s to the beer.

It definitely went bad, IMHO.

I don't know - I love that beer!

I have one bottle remaining, so I guess I need to chill it and drink it ...

If it was bad, and I trust that you know it is, sorry about that ...

FB might have shitty taste in big stouts, though! =)
I love stouts, and especially big stouts. I can definitely say that this one went bad somehow.

The reviews on it are really good, so I'm sure that it's just a fluke. It wasn't a gusher or anything, so I don't know what could have been the direct cause.
