That's because you don't know how to listen to it.
 
Most people raised on rock n roll don't know how to listen to reggae, and the common theme amongst them is "it all sounds the same".
 
People from other cultures raised on their local music could say the same about rock n roll.
 
But that's because they don't know how to listen to it.
 
It's a totally different listening style.
 
Not trying to offend you CS but I've studied music for many years and that is my take when I hear the commonly mentioned "It all sounds the same."
