I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Peppers planted out May 10.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

I just love the color of this variety.
7 Pot Caramel (PL)

And the inside looks very painful.

And painful it was. Right in the throat. I ate the right half. It was another delayed onset, but not as long and was sorta perfumey. Not my favorite flavor, but the heat is aggressive. Felt like a throat-punch.

Awesome!
Do you nibble ever or just do half?
Lol

I usually do halves...I feel that's the best way for me to judge flavor and heat. If I could, I'd do whole pods. But notice I always do the smaller half. Lol.

Hrmmm, not smaller by much... :hmm:

So today is the second day of the "Longest Yard Sale" that runs from the town just north of us, Addison, MI all the way south to Gadsden, AL. It's also the same weekend that our town decides to have its city-wide yard sale. So there are people all over the frickin' place. Anyway, I've never used a dehydrator for peppers and told her to keep an eye out for one (I'm not going out there. It's too peopley). She came home with two. The one on the right has me questioning it because it has no lid. I googled it and every pic I've seen has no lid. Now either those pics are all of this exact dehydrator, or they don't need a lid. Does anybody know? It's a "Harvest Savor" made by Vita-Mix brand and has 5 trays.

At any rate...SCORE!!!!! We tried last year looking for one, but to no avail. I'm super-stoked about this and won't have cut open peppers laid out all over the place. Woohoo!

I forgot to mention that one was $5, the other was $3.

Well Adam for $8 you certainly have a bargain lid or no lid. Great investment they will produce some awesome dried pods to keep you going through the winter months ... Cinder looks a winner
Thanks, John! For Cinder, I'm hoping plant #1 will ripen to caramel. At least chocolate. It's not in the genes, but a peach would be fantastic, as well. (Not sure where peach comes from). Right you are about the dehydrators! I've wanted one for a couple years, but I guess was set on a used, cheap one. Lol.

Here's a little update on the Black Naga x Peri-Peri. The plant in the bucket is much bigger but they're both producing lots of tiny pods. Here's the top of the bucket plant.

And here's the first pod.

I can't wait to try these out. I hope they're not just skin wrapped around seeds. Lol.

I agree on the CGN 21500 , real nice fruity flavour.
Love the look of your Chocolate Lava, real blistered gnarly looking pepper.
That's going to hurt Adam lol.

You've got that right, Sim! The little bit of a pod I had last year was stingy, if I remember correctly. And prickly, stinging pods are a little difficult. Lol. Yeah, I can't wait for the CGN 21500 and the Aji Jobito. Never had the Jobito. Pretty excited about that. How did the Hainan Yellow Lantern fare for you? How was the heat and flavor? Great looking plant you have there.

Those Jay's Ghost Scorpions are quite plump. Mine (I have Red, Peach, and Chocolate) are mostly long and skinny.

Good looking pods all around.
Thanks! I've grown JPGS twice and they've been wide (or at least not skinny) both times. Which is weird because the seeds for the first time were from a skinny pod. These seeds were from a different source.

Not tried one yet Adam , but will take a ripe pod off the plant this week.
Yeah it's a good plant and loaded, real excited about trying a fresh pod, will let you know heat and flavour.
You up for a seed trade [emoji6] [emoji106]
