BigCedars SuperHot Grow 2012

Hey Everyone :) 2012 will be my first full year being a member of this great forum. So, I figured why not do a start to finish growlog for the first time. Instead of writing down a journal of germination times, flower times, ferts, soils, plant out dates, etc.. like I have in the past.. I'll be using my growlog instead. There will be extra information that I'm sure the seasoned pros won't need to read but I'm sure anyone new to this hobby will enjoy the extra info I'll be posting. I absolutely love checking up on other members growlogs, It's my daily newspaper! I figured as much entertainment you all have given me this year.. It's time to entertain back. Hope you all enjoy.

One more thing..
Before we get started with the grow porn..
A special thanks goes out to anyone that has helped me out since joining THP. I appreciate it more than you know.

Alright, lets get this party started.

So 12/15 and 12/16 were the only time I had to do this unless I wanted to wait until January because of my work and family xmas parties. I have a greenhouse, which means I can harden off earlier than those who don't. I figured.. Why not start a couple weeks early!? So that's what I did :D

I'm using Hoffmans Seed Starting Mix for the first time this year. I can already tell this stuff is as great as people have said. It's so soft and fluffy, I have an extra bag.. I told my wife I'm puttin a pillow case over it and swappin out my pillow  I prepared everything 12/15

If you use hoffmans.. you have to soak it overnight or knead water into the soil in a plastic tub.. which is what I ended up doing after realizing it wasn't absorbing water from my spray bottle.. So after I did that, I prepped 4 72cell flats with soil, put 4 of each seed variety in the cups, let them sit for 8hours.

1003.jpg

After planting 288 seeds by hand.. I've realized that before this season is over.. I need to invent a faster way to do this.. my god that took way to long. All worth it though :)

1006.jpg

My grow closet.

1008.jpg

I'm using hydrofarm heating mats with hydrofarm heat mat thermostats set at 82 (the one further back in the closet is always warmer..)

1007.jpg

One more thing if you have kids.. My daughter use to love to open the closet door.. Now she likes to shut the door..
I came up with a solution for both the problems.
Bricks so she can't shut the door? Check
Dog leash so she cant open the door? Check.
Let the growing begin.

1010.jpg

The List
I would love to have 3 plants of each.. so I'm starting 4 of each hoping for the best. If I have too many.. Well, I'll find room or give them away :hell:

I will be keeping this posted every week with germination rates.

I'm just doing supers for the first time this year.
I have a good amount of non supers that I'm overwintering. I figure with what I'm growing, If something does cross..I'tll most likely be a superhot cross. And you can't go wrong there!

Brandon

Damn BC! Them's some beauties! Love the variety, you've got a cool selection of pods. For having such a soap opera of a season you sure came out on top, nice job. That Banda ma Jacques was one I tried to start first thing this season....lol, I killed them all. Do they taste good?? The pods are not what I expected them to look like. I came up with a lot of "nots" this year too. I'm still happy with everything that made it. I'm sure you are as excited for the OWing process as I am! Now let's just see if I can keep them alive. Sweet glog, look forward to seeing what else you get going in the future. Keep it up Big C.

+1 Chsy- they look awesome. So hot they are scorching their own skin! Those mystery habanero's have an interesting texture to them. Quite the plethora of uniqueness BC. Are you going to be poding like that all winter in the garage!? That would be awesome.

Great photos there bro!!

Not to be a negative input But I think you have another NOT with your Bonda's unless my eyes are deceiving me they should be Yellow!!

Brandon! Hey, buddy, I'm very pleased for you. You have a simply
outstanding harvest there, my man! And the pics will stand up against
any on the forum - have you been taking lessons from Pic1? You guys
are working together, aren't you? Very nice, and really good to see your
success. Maybe there is a pepper business in your future!

I notice you didn't have enough dice to go with the Fatalis (really dig the
THP spelled out in Fatalis!) and the Not Bhut Jolokia Red! You had my
OCD kickin' into high gear counting the pods to make sure they matched
the dots on the dice. When I got to those two, I almost had a meltdown

Have a ton o' fun, my friend. Your winter is going to go by really fast!

edit: Did I see a couple of pepper plants still out in the yard through your
kitchen window?

Great harvest I am glad it work out for you even through all the obstacles you got some great heat on that table. You are going to have a great season next year I can not wait to see.

Awesome! You know I have to ask....crack open a Purple Bhut x Trinidad Viper and show us the inside Brandon. :) They look so cool on the exterior. Nice harvest.

Chris

I am so non-observant that I didnt realize the numbers on the dice correlated to the number of peppers. wow!

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING

Do you think your not Bhut Jolokia Red could be Yellow Devil's Tongue? They look very similar to mine.

Those are some beautiful pods and pics Brandon. Nice to see you are back on track. Came home to find a nice package from you. Had to try the not red bhut gone yellow. It smelled and tasted exactly like my aji lemons. Very flavorful but with a lot more heat :fireball: . Cut some up with my meal and it was delicious. Thanks bro U da man. Can't wait to sample the rest. Mouth is still on fire . It is a creeper for sho :fireball:

Could it simply be a yellow ghost? They look like mine and mine smell very fruity like my lemon drops but are MUCH hotter.

Man that is just simply incredible... and from one who is trying to do a glog as well as manage the chillies and hold down a day job - I salute you BigCedar. Massive effort, huge success - Well done!

Been Awhile..
Update!

Hey 3/5, thanks for stopping by man! Those pods are ALOT hotter than I thought they would be.. I've never heard of a 2-tone pod being 'Superhot' but this one is.. Those Habs came from seed from a pod that showed up at my work filled with normal looking habs.. Taste is totally different, alot more fruitier and citrusy. I hate orange habs but love these guys. I could pod all winter in the garage.. But, I'm deciding not to.. I have way to big of a list for 2013 and plan on using the garage for space for starts instead of the closest next year. Everything will soon be cut back into gallon OW homes. Hope all is well brother!

All I can say right now is................ WOW

Thanks Greg :)

Yes! Pullin some pods in your "sun" room! This is going to be awesome to watch this winter!!!

Thanks Shane! I only wish I had more time to update it!
I hope things are good with you man!

Thanks Trip! Dude.. No negativity taken here! I couldn't remember what color the bonda and the aji chombo were supposed to be at that time and you certainly helped me out there! I thank you for that :) I hope your grows going well for you, I'm jealous!

Hey Paul! Been awhile buddy! Thank you for the good words my friend. I have been taking lessons from Greg actually! For growing purposes lol, photography is all me though, ha! Pepper business? maybe.. If I ever retire and have the time to manage another business other than the one I already do I'd be game. I'm glad I had your OCD kickin into highgear lol, that was just for you buddy! Paul, you would notice those plants, good eye! Yes, those were pepper plants.. I had to make some cuts to make room for next year, that was them. Crazy to see those plants dead outside and the others thriving in the garage. I hope things are good with you buddy, and your family of course :)

Great harvest I am glad it work out for you even through all the obstacles you got some great heat on that table. You are going to have a great season next year I can not wait to see.

Thanks Fernando! I hope you are right buddy! That's my plan, 2013, setback-free! lol.. your going to have a great season as well buddy, can't wait to watch :D

Alright alright Chris.. You just HAVE to see the goods don't you ;) Gotcha covered buddy!

I am so non-observant that I didnt realize the numbers on the dice correlated to the number of peppers. wow!

Do you think your not Bhut Jolokia Red could be Yellow Devil's Tongue? They look very similar to mine.

Thanks Sanarda! They do look similar, but are not the same pepper for sure, taste is way off, these are hotter and sweeter. I don't know what the heck happened in the genetics, it's like a bhut X Sweet Yellow Bell lol. Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Jamie! Thanks buddy, I'm glad you liked them man, it was the least I could do!
I hope you, the fam, and your plants are all doing well brother!

awesome photo work... great looking pods.. powder is in your future...

Thanks man! I was making powder earlier actually. About time if you ask me!

Could it simply be a yellow ghost? They look like mine and mine smell very fruity like my lemon drops but are MUCH hotter.

Hey JHP, honestly buddy, I thought that was the case while they were growing and ripening. Then I tried one, and I decided to call it the "NOT BJ Red" because it is nothing like any Yellow Bhut I've tried.. I sent out some pods for others to try and they all agreed.. I may be wrong but I don't think so, final color is off, size is off, and flavor is way off. It's the sweetest superhot I've tried anyway, not the tastiest, but the sweetest :)

Man that is just simply incredible... and from one who is trying to do a glog as well as manage the chillies and hold down a day job - I salute you BigCedar. Massive effort, huge success - Well done!

Thanks Buddy! I really appreciate that! I'm just like you brother, family, day job, peppers... It is a NEVER ending job, I'm always ahead with the first 2 things and peppers always come in last but not least.. At the end of the day though it's all worth it! I hope the season is treating you well buddy. You have quite the grow goin on!

First off... Thanks to a good friend down under for hookin me up and getting me in contact with Butch..
Thanks Buddy!
