Bot fly..in her head

as some hunters will tell you from down south, it is not unusual that deer will have bot flys, squirrel's too...

and that second one....my lord...sebacious cyst out of control...

both made me squirm a bit...yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bot flies aren't as rare as you may think. My brother got one in his scalp last summer. He hadn't traveled anywhere, it was just a "rabbit" bot fly that is native to the Northern US.

Whoa! The first vid was bad enough but that second video Captainpepper was just disgusting. I was sweating watching that...Damn!!!

years ago(30+), i read the botfly was one of the fastest flies on the planet, being able to hit speeds of 80mph - with the discovery of new flies perhaps now they are only the ceyanne of flies.

i remember my brother and sister always squeezing fly eggs out of the back of their necks after being biten during summer months. i have never had the pleasure. we always thought they were biten by either deerfly or horsefly but it appears those flies only bite and draw blood then fly back to feed their larvae which are usually are laid in swampy/pond areas.

I run across an occasional botfly larvae in rabbits when I hunt. Just flick them off and keep on skinning. Doesn't affect the meat. Some hunters won't eat a rabbit they see a botfly larvae in. Huh...some hunters, LOL!

I am very glad I have never had the pleasure myself!!!
