Car Thread..Show us your pride and joy!!

That's a sweet paint job on the T-bird, but what's with the huge bulge on the hood? High lift cam head?

yup...always loved the pontiacs..my fathers first new car was a 53 Pontiac...I have a black and white picture of it somewhere with me sitting on the hood with the amber colored "chief" between my legs...

:side note - I will be coming down to Palm City next spring, probably May, to fish with my cousin...am sure I will have time to cross the state to the west coast and tip a few with you:

Its because the fox body fords don't have a whole lot of clearance on top of the engine. And thats with a 5.0L 302. Now imagine an 8.2L 514 with a deck height thats almost 5 inches higher than the 302 and then the cowl hood becomes obvious. When you sit inside the car you can see the whole carb through the windshield.

Me too. Pontiacs are my brand. Period. Back in the day i used to collect 455s and had them stacked up like cord wood. I've owned 37 2nd generation Trans-Ams in my youth too.(of course, they were dirt cheap back then also).
And anytime you want to show up here, AJ i'm buying!

I can see how that would create space issues. Lowering engine mounts would be a bitch.

I built this one from the ground up....then sold it for enough to pay CASH for my 2006 Scion tC (and have enough left over for a turbo kit!):

My girlfriend named the car: "Look at Me"

Nice car! Looks a bit like a Stingray. Can't quite make out the transmission though - is it manual or automatic?

It's a Sebring. They were actually the 3rd. incarnation of the original Nova kit car from England.

The transaxle is a 4-speed VW and the engine is a higly modified VW/Porsche hybrid:

It was spooky fast, got heaps of attention....and I wish I had never sold it!! I have plenty of photos of it, but I (a) no longer own it, and (b) don't want to hog the thread.

Ah. That explains it. The Bradley GT was a kit car they sold here in the 70's that used a VW/Porsche drivetrain also.

I came close to buying a Bradley GT a few years back. I always liked them. On the other hand, the GT II's looked like a bag of ass....;)

Hey Creator, if you need any parts for that GT let me know. I've got a boatload of 'em. So when are you going to ditch those turbine wheels and put a set of Cobra R's on it?

Yeah, it's fun. When it's completed next year (all that's left to do are heads, a cam and a new rear), it should break the 10-second mark. I refuse to put nitrous in it, around here it's known simply as "lazy mans horsepower", and most guys that use it by me are laughed at, and not held in very high esteem.

It's actually my daily driver, and believe it or not, still gets 22+ mpg on the highway. Nothin' like leaving late for work, to arrive early.

Hmmm, I'll keep that in mind. It never hurts to have an extra nose, got one? As for the rims, I kind of like the turbines, they're stock, one of the few things left that is.

Yes, actually, as a matter of fact i do. It's sitting upstairs here right as we speak. My driver is a 90 LX coupe, so its a no go. And i refuse to put the GT ground effects on a coupe. I've seen it done and i think it looks stupid.

Oh, yeah whats wrong with the rear? 8.8's can take a shitload of abuse. It probably just needs a few tweaks to make it go to go.

Agreed, I've seen the GT stuff of LX's, it makes me laugh. One of the best I've seen around here was some shmuck with a 2.3l actually strapped on a second exhaust pipe, to make it look like a 5.0. It was hilarious, I saw this idiot in a 7-11 and asked him what he had under the hood. He told me a blown-out 5.0 "worked to the moon". I told him he had better take it to the shop because only half of his engine was working. he asked me what I was talking about, and I pointed to the spotless brand new exhaust pipe as opposed to the dirty rusty one on the left side. Let's just say he cut the conversation short, and left in a hurry with the titanic roar of a 2.3l 4-banger with a bad knock.

As for my rear, I was debating a Dana 9". The car itself has just over 250,000 miles on it, and it's the original rear (yeah, I'm amazed too), and believe it or nt, it's still in excellent condition.

How much for the nose?

$100 for the nose. As for the rear, unless you housing is physically bent or broken, all you need to do is new bearings and seals, moser 31 spline axles, a new traction lock center section, a combo brace/rearend cover and maybe a new gearset if yours look beat up. Basically you should be able to do all that for about a third of the price of a new Dana. Seriously, unless you plan on having enough power to get WAY down into the low 9's, you really dont need a 9 inch.
