catchthebear 2020

A little slow out of the gate this year, but I had some time today to get some seeds dropped this afternoon.

Most everything here has come from trades this year, so a very big thank you to all that have swapped with me.  I also have at least another 100 or so varieties I plan to start very soon.  Will likely start those at work and not keep tabs on them as much until they're a bit larger, so those will probably show up in this Glog some point further down the line.

Here's what I got rolling today as well as some photos.  Thanks for scoping it out!

My 2019 Grow Log  http://thehotpepper.com/topic/71476-catchthebear-2019/

Dang, Paul!  Your variegated Jalapeno look great!  I have been wondering how you fared with those guys.  Many of my plants were neglected this year and mine did not survive.  (Would ya happen to have some seeds? I'm fresh out now.)  No suggestions here.  Just...don't do what I did!

Awesome pics, Matt!

I laughed out loud at that coffee cup pic!

I had to transplant the Variegated Jalapeño
before the freezing nights hit. Plant is in a small
pot in greenhouse. Sort of droopy, but the pods
continue to color up. I hated to do it, but I was
afraid I'd lose the plant altogether. Will be pulling
the pods shortly, then we will know how the seeds
turned out. I think I still have a couple of your seed
from last season. Will have to look in my boxes.

Looking good, CTB! Do I see a little purpleness
here and there in some of those seedlings?

Thank you Paul :)

Should be a bit of purple in there somewhere.  Just typed up what's in those photos.

Hey Matt..looks like you're quite settled in ..lovely pixs & quite an array, great looking peps...didn't even know that biquinho came in so many
colors...if that's what they are?

That's a nice Golden...my favorite dog breed....we had 2 & often think of getting another but they are so prone to illness...best dogs IMHO. :shh:

Good Luck with the seedlings.

That pic of your Golden Retreiver really brought
back some great memories. We had a GR for 17
years. the last couple of years weren't pretty, but
it was hard to let him go when the time came. Still
get a little tear in my eye when I think of him even
after 10 years.

Thanks wiri :)  Those are biquinho.  Have quite a few colors of them if you're interested :)

Getting a bit settled in here.  Have to move again next year, but at least it won't be as long of a trip this go around.

Gus is a big old goof. Real sweet guy. Just turned 3!

It's hard losing a pet.  I still think about my favorite old cat often. Lost him a couple years back now

Looks almost like a twin for our cat - 18 years
old and pretty frisky for a senior citizen.

BTW What is the ripe color of the Variegated
Jalapeño supposed to be? These seem to be
ripe at orange, but they colored up so late, I
am not sure if that’s really the desired end result.

Loosing a pet is such heartache...our first Golden Lily died at age 3 ......she was so sweet.calm & gentle..Very smart as most GRs are.
We were so broken up ...my first dog...we then had Emma a Lab,but we still wanted another Golden,so we adopted Belle
and yes,she too died of Ca at 7....but Emma lived till 15...whenever I see I GR  it always brings back memories & like Paul a :tear:

Pets help us cope  in a world where there's so much uncertainty...esp., now with so many people having to stay at home/work from home away from
their coworkers etc...the companionship is priceless.
Hope you have many years with Gus. ;)

I can't find a picture of a ripe one of mine, but there's one of my pods in this video https://youtu.be/CDuR-zdBe6A?t=48%C2 Mine stayed an orange/peach sort of color before finally turning red.

That plant was in a gallon pot and pretty neglected back then. Might explain the corking?

Thanks wiri :)  He's been a good pal to have around this year especially.  I'm sure he's enjoying having us around the home so much lol
