food Comida South America!

La Casa de los Anticuchos brought their cooks from Miraflores, Peru to this festival to whip some of the best anticuhos I've ever had.

Once again im brimming with envy TGCM! That is certainly a very hearty looking Chupe!

I actually had Chupe de Camarones in Gaston's restaurant in Arequipa..... while by any means not bad, i actually enjoyed the dish even more at one of the local Picanterias!.... more expensive doesnt always mean better sometimes....

The subject of anticuchos came up recentlly with a friend of mine. As i think ive mentioned before, i really love using chicken hearts for anticuchos..... but my Peruvian friend was telling me she ran out of beef heart while cooking for a party some time ago, and all she could find on short notice as a substitute was lamb hearts. She said they were an absolute hit and were some of the best anticuchos she had ever tasted..... she even preferred it to beef heart.... I am certainly going to be making a batch next time i bring out the skewers (i like making a whole bunch at once)....
