Excellent article. I am proud of you. BUT... you are not from New York, and you should have answered Bud Light to that last question.

Costco has a new Samuel Adams Limited Release variety pack called, "IPA Hopology" so I am trying it. This is the first one I have tried and it's good. The spicy clove taste of the Belgian yeast gives it a distinct flavor. Its pretty bitter as well but that is a characteristic of IPA's.

I had just a wonderful time today at my local bottle shop of Heaven. They call it their Hoppy Easter party. Here was the lineup...

- AleSmith IPA (YES)
- Founders All Day IPA (YES)
- Troegs Nugget Nectar (YES)
- Dogfish Head/Sierra Nevada Rhizing Bines (NO)
- Dogfish Head Aprihop (YES)
- Uinta Dubhe Imperial Black IPA (NO)
- Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast (YES)
- Mikkeller Hoppy Easter (YES)
- St. Boniface Citra Hopped Paidea Pale Ale Firkin (NO)
- Bell's Hopslam (NO FREAKIN' WAY)

The yes's and no's were for whether or not they were available for growlers. In a addition to nearly all of them, I had a West Coast IPA by Green Flash, and an Avery's Maharaja. I just woke up from my nap....

Beer #2. Pretty decent. Wife bought the sampler pack and this along with Dark Depths are the only two I was looking forward to (but the Third Voyage IPA is okay too).

looks good how was it??

Very easy to drink although a little watery for a porter I guess. Malty roasty "chocolatey" with some bitterness. It has a poor rating on ratebeer (51) but I really like Ska Brewing's Modus Hoperandi IPA so I decided to give it a shot. (Talking about the Ten Pin Porter of course)

Beer #3. The other SA I was looking forward to. Pretty interesting taste. Almost seemed a little smokey and I wouldn't consider it an IPA but tasty whatever it is.

4th and probably final beer for Easter. Bittersweet coffee and chocolate in a glass full of black. Black and delicious.

Last night I learned that 12oz of 5.5% + 12oz of 6.5% + 12oz of 7.5% + 22oz of 9% abv beer consumed in 2.5 hours = me sound asleep on couch in 3 hours.

And Joe, the Ten Pin wasn't something I'd consider sweet at all. A little on the bitter side if anything. Not hoppy bitter like an IPA, but more like burnt charcoal bitter from the roasted malts I suspect.

Tonights first and possibly only beer:

I probably mentioned this one previously in this thread. I wish they'd put a date on the bottle because the one I opened a little while ago tastes like a pretty straightforward brown ale and lacks any nutty flavor at all, but the one I had a couple of weeks back was like drinking a bowl of hazelnuts. Anecdotal evidence sure but I'd suggest if you ever try it and it doesn't taste like hazelnuts you probably got a bad bottle.

Second and really last beer for the night  I'm not really an IPA guy but this wasn't my favorite IPA by a long shot. Kinda fruity and not very bitter. Not bad, but not great.

I'm not against cloudy beers either but a little moss might not have hurt ;)
