craft beer

Tonight's treat:

our Summadayze IPA at the brewery outscored and won best IPA in florida up against Jai Alai, so yea, theres that.

No shit? Gimme that. I didn't end up trying your IPA.

Darwins is going to can their stuff I read. Is it going to be in stores locally or what's the deal?

Ok you drink that, I'll take that big bottle of Tremins over there on the counter.

Don't knock the Betrayal. I might be becoming a fan of red ales. Speakeasy's Betrayal and Scarlett are both tasty. Even Sam Adams Tasman Red is pretty drinkable.

Belgian beers aren't really my thing although I love Rochefort Trappiste #8. Don't know why but #6 and #10 just don't do the same thing for me. Nocturnum and Gulden Draak were okay I guess, if you like your beer to taste like champagne. (I'm assuming you mistook the Nocturnum bottle for Tremins)

Tonight's treat:

You are correct sir. I did mistake Nocturnum for Tremins. I was not knocking the Betreyal. That one tonight looks good too.

We have these breweries within a 5 mile radius of our house. Plus, Stone is 10 miles away, Pizza Port Brewing is 6 miles away and The Lost Abbey shares facilities with Pizza Port. Another 4 or 5 are also getting ready to open. Vista, California. Home of good beer and double IPA`s.

Tonight's first treat, Santa Fe Brewing Happy Camper IPA. It's pretty good.

Followed by a Rogue Chocolate Stout and Santa Fe Brewing's Imperial Java Stout, which is actually quite tasty especially if you like coffee.

I love coffee stouts, especially when I find them on nitro...

I don't love them as much in the summer but today was cold and windy so I picked some up on the way home from work. Despite hating Fat Tire etc. New Belgium's Lips of Faith series has produced some nice beers, including an imperial chocolate coffee stout. The Anubis Imperial Coffee Porter from Laughing Dog Brewing I drank a couple weeks ago was pretty tasty too.

I don't get out to bars much but there are a few nitro taps here. Not sure why we've been too lazy to at least go to Santa Fe (less than an hour away) and at least have some on tap, nitro or not. It's kind of sad actually when you consider we've driven to other states for beer and brew pubs and are even planning a summer trip to San Diego and up the coast to drink beer (Stone, Avery, Lagunitas, Ballast Point, and Bear Republic come to mind off the top of my head).

If you go to San Diego you have to include Green Flash or you will be doing yourself a disservice.

I've only tried one Green Flash, and don't recall loving it but I can't remember what it was. I thought it was a black IPA but I can't find a picture of it. They carry several Green Flash beers here.... any recommendations? I'm 99% sure they have Le Freak and Imperial IPA but not sure what else, maybe a stout.
