craft beer

Drove 100 miles and hit about 8 different liquor stores but managed to round up what's probably the last four and a half cases of Lagunitas Sucks I'll probably ever see.  And a twelve pack of Stone Smoke Porter w/Vanilla Bean and some other stuff.  It's "miller" time!

I'm drinking the Stone Old Guardian right now and it's 11.6% alcohol and categorized a Barley Wine because of the octane.
Wow! This stuff will put hair on your chest like Chuck Norris.

Old Guardian is pretty tasty.  Can't vouch for either of the others but I've had a couple of Ballast Point beers and those were good.  Sculpin IPA is pretty darn tasty if you like IPAs.

Speaking of IPAs, had one of these tonight:

Can't say I loved it.  It wasn't terrible but I haven't had a european IPA I've really liked yet.

So this month going to a Carnivores Ball / BBQ festival.

And they are serving the following beets below:

What are the must haves

Hopworks Hub Lager
Anchor Steam Beer
Brooklyn Lager
Stillwater Cellar Door
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Anchor Liberty Ale
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale
Bridgeport IPA
Hopworks IPA
Moylans Nor Calipa
Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA 2013
Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA
Coronado Islander IPA
Devils Canyon Sunshine Rye IPA
Green Flash West Coast IPA
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
Mission Shipwrecked Double IPA
Green Flash Hop Head Red
Lakefront Fixed Gear American Red Ale
Bridgeport Kingpin Double Red Ale
Sierra Nevada Big Foot Barleywine 2013
North Coast Pranqster
Brooklyn Local
Brooklyn Local 2
Sierra Nevada Porter
North Coast Old Rasputin
Rogue Double Chocolate Stout
Moylans Ryan Sullivans Imperial Stout

I'd opt for an Old Rasputin or Rogue Chocolate Stout. The Coronado is okay. The Green Flash IPA is okay, never had their red ale but it might be good.  Anchor Steam is alright but widely available so I don't know if I'd drink a glass given the other options.  I'd avoid the Bridgeport stuff altogether, and just my opinion but Sierra mostly makes weak beers but the Bigfoot is an exception (and Narwhal, and Hoptimum if you like hop bombs).  I wouldn't bother with the torpedo or pale ale but it all boils down to personal taste.

Awesome, well all these beers are very foreign to me, Australia doesn't get much in US beers, so looking forward to this

Aw I didn't realize you were in Australia.  Anchor has been brewing for over 100 years and are probably the oldest "craft beer" brewery in the U.S. by let's say 80 years or more.  Their Steam beer is a solid brew but not as exciting as many of your other choices.  You might love Sierra Nevada but these days they remind me more and more of the "Budweiser" of craft beers but they're pretty popular for what it's worth.

Since you're in Australia and don't see these beers I suggest trying them all starting in reverse alphabetical order.  You can drink 28 pints in a session can't you?!

28 beers hmmmmm, not impossible, have too make sure I have some extra brisket beforehand.

Chocolate stout is sounding interesting

If I were you I'd be excited.  Just like people here think the only beer in Australia is Fosters (god I hope that's not true!), people elsewhere often assume we only make pilsners and corn lagers in the U.S. but there's a lot of delicious beers made here and you're going to get to drink several of them.  Enjoy!
