Alrighty folks! It's almost plant out time and that means that my basement and lights are going to be freed up for some crossing projects through the summer.

I have 4 DWC buckets available for growing peppers indoors all summer. (not to mention racks for seedling growout)
2 spots are already taken by White Fatalii and CGN-21500.

These Plants will be the Base for all my other crosses. Meaning that I will use pollen from plants that are outdoors in the rest of my collection crossed with these. These will be tagged and harvested and grown out in the basement to choose phenos. I'm planning on going for taste more than heat.

Plants to choose from

My biggest focus will be crossing the White Fatalii with CGN-21500 but will do plenty of other crosses with them as well.

Y'all are more than welcome to offer suggestions as to what you would like to see crossed with what as well. I'm sure I will be sharing seeds with most of you at some point (prolly F2? maybe some F1's)

right now it makes sense. I was thinking those were the new pods already was like man this guy can grow fast.

Can you cross species (anuum and chinese?)

Yes, lemme see there's a chart in regards to that floating around on my computer somewhere.. Ah here's a good link that breaks it all down pretty well. http://www.fatalii.net/Growing_chile_peppers/Breeding

Hydro plants growing like weeds, they keep this up I may have to move two of them over to the other hydro cabinet. I swear every time I go down there they are bigger. Not going up much, mostly out to the sides. I'm going to have a hell of a time getting into there to pollinate. They have far exceeded their brethren out in the garden

Dusted 7pot yellow bs with White Bhut

CGN-21500 with 7pot yellow bs

None these took, all flowers where dropped
Hydro cabinet filled out pretty well

CGN-21500 starting to get lots of flowers- most the others don't unfortunatly. Going to follow yellowfintunas suggestion and reduce nutrients to 500ppm instead of 1500 see if they hold flowers better in that range

Fantastic grow! Next week I will try my hand at crossing. Don't know what to cross. Maybe Brainstrain / Moa? Or something Tepin or Goat Weed.

Thanks for sharing

brainstrain x MOA sounds good, or anthing and tepin. I've had more crosses not take than that have but it's still fun.

Nice! Wish I found this site earlier http://www.brugmansia.us/forums/index.php?/store/category/14-bgi-hybridizing-and-propagating-/

They got all the stuff I need for collecting and storing pollen. Also markers, paintbrushes for applying pollen and flower tags ect. Though I really like the butterfly tags i've been using.

Some of your crosses look pretty interesting.   How big are those pods on the not 7 yellow bs?   Looks big,  I wonder if it was crossed with a sweet pepper or something.   That sure sucks if so.   This year i have all most of my chinense on one side of the yard, about 50 yards from the rest so while I'm sure there will be more unintentional crosses as it doesn't look like I will have time to do any isolating or bagging, at least they are quite a ways from the sweet peppers.   So far only have pods on 1 of  my 2 yellow brain strains from my saved seeds.  It looks 7 pod shaped but not as brainy and bumpy looking as last year so far on the first few pods.

They are pretty big, maybe 3.5" long give or take. I'm curious to see what they end up tasting like. Hopefully they will be ripening soon.

Nice pod. Looks wider than the one my plant is producing

There's another pod on that plant that is ripe that's really small and round. I did think yours looked pretty thin though

hot ass little bastard too, I wasn't expecting it to be that hot. Took a second to kick in but my lips and tongue burn like hell. I got 18 seeds off of it. Most have black spots in center so I question their viability. Fingers crossed

I should be able to just soak this right away and plant right? Don't need to dry out or anything? Was going to soak in a light peroxide mix overnight

I don't have experience with H2O2 on seeds, so I don't know about that. But, personally, I would just get it in soil ASAP. If you plant it in a small pot, you'll have pods in no time.
I can't wait to see the fruits of your labor next season when you have all these crazy crosses planted out! I hope you have a good camera for pod porn!
