Alrighty folks! It's almost plant out time and that means that my basement and lights are going to be freed up for some crossing projects through the summer.

I have 4 DWC buckets available for growing peppers indoors all summer. (not to mention racks for seedling growout)
2 spots are already taken by White Fatalii and CGN-21500.

These Plants will be the Base for all my other crosses. Meaning that I will use pollen from plants that are outdoors in the rest of my collection crossed with these. These will be tagged and harvested and grown out in the basement to choose phenos. I'm planning on going for taste more than heat.

Plants to choose from

My biggest focus will be crossing the White Fatalii with CGN-21500 but will do plenty of other crosses with them as well.

Once the poll is complete Thursday night- the two winning plants will be moved to the hydro system and this thread will serve as my grow log for this project.

Y'all are more than welcome to offer suggestions as to what you would like to see crossed with what as well. I'm sure I will be sharing seeds with most of you at some point (prolly F2? maybe some F1's)

So pumped for the 7 pot yellow x aji limon. Would be a glorious cross.

Me too, hoping that it turns out to be a true 7pot yellow, it's growing quite a bit different than my otherone. it's either that or a yellow primo. Either one would be nice crosses though. Plant looks like crap right now, sun burnt and dropped most its leaves. Hopefully it doesn't drop the pod.

Awesome project! I keep saying every year I will try my hand at crossing. I think this year I will give it a go.

Thanks for the inspiration and good luck.

maybe the BS with some ginger, coriander, lemon juice or zest and some kind of light fruit base... applesauce? I don't know, the yellow just screams for something citrusy

I've never had a pepper jelly
I made my first about 2 months ago, yellow morugas with a 7 pod Barrackapore infused apple cider vinegar , with fresh plumbs.. Was a sweet super hot jam , but more savoury than fruity.. Goes great with meats and cheeses. Roast pork and chicken were just great , makes an awesome glaze to baste with..
I have eaten it on toast and with peanut butter on a sandwich too , lol or was ok but not fruity enough lol

Sounds like it would rock on some roasted porkloin

Just a couple of the outdoor crossed pod picks. It got dark on me fast after we got home from dinner. A lot of plants are dropping leaves and others are throwing some pods. It's a mix of happy and sad for them being outside.

Paper Lantern X Aji Pineapple- could be a good one. Looks like at least two flowers took to pods

Fidalga roxa is being a good mother plant, crap tons of flowers and most the pollen I have hit her with has taken.

A few pods of each of these

Fidalga roxa X white fatalii

Roxa X aji limon

no pic but a few Roxa X bolsa de dulce took as well.

Another that is outside but no pic is the 7pot yellow bs X aji limon but that plant is doing really bad and has dropped most its leaves and only has the one crossed pod on it. May very well drop it.
sorry pics are so crappy was really low light and gnats where raping my orifices.

Some pics of the hydro plants. Cleaned the res and upped the PPM to 900s (slowly working my way up) Added one my LED fixtures after I took pics for a little more light in red spectrum.

Picked the flowers off CGN-21500 so it could concentrate on root and veg growth a little longer. New growth is looking good

Butch T yellow is dropping all its flowers. Got some calmag on order but added some disolved epsom salt to res for now.

Current crossed pods are doing ok outside so far, plants haven't dropped them through transplant shock.

Several of each of these on the roxa

One of each of these so far, this plant looks like crap right now so thankful it hasn't dropped it's pods yet.

There's still one pod from  K: Crystal X Tepin X Lemon Drop (f2) but it's really slow developing so not a lot of hope for it but will see.

Inside the hydro plants are throwing vegetation nicely and the baha goat is starting to throw flowers. Soon those can start rocking full swing.

Hydro plants are doing great but not much flower production.

Bahamian goat

CGN-21500

Still getting edema, think I left too much promix stuck to the rootball but it was so root bound it wasn't breaking up

The white fatalii pod pollinated by Bolsa de dulce taking forever to ripen

Well the 7pot yellow bs I used as a mother turned out to not be growing true. Seed source said there was Datil growing next to it so there's that chance.. who knows. Hopefully it tastes good and the F1s from the cross with aji limon turn out pretty neat.

Other 7pot bs i'm growing next to it seems to be throwing truer pods so I will use that plant for the next cross attempts.

I hit a couple Q: Aji Amarillo with Carib Red Hab (3)

R: Aji Pineapple with Butch T yellow (4)

S: Lemon Drop with Inca Berry (3) I really like the way inca berry is growing and the lemon shaped pods on it.

I also re dusted Goatsweed with Butch T yellow since it didn't take last time.

I am a little confused, I thought the crosses didn't take til you use the seeds the following year? Thatss what I read on here anyway, so is that wrong info?

No, that's correct. The demarcation "White Fatalii X CGN-21500" indicates "Mother X Father" The seeds inside the pod are first generation once grown out. The crossed pod will look just like any of the other fruit on the Mother plant but the genetic material inside (seeds) contain both the mother and the fathers DNA.

I'm not waiting till next year to grow these out though. Second the pods are ripe enough i'm harvesting the seeds and sowing to grow out and see what kinds of phenotypes I get, then I will select plants who's foliage and pods I like the best and let them self pollinate, then I will collect those seeds and repeat the cycle. I probably won't get past F2 this year though.

Remember that you will only see the dominant traits in the F1 plants. All the recessive traits (e.g. purple colour) will have to wait for F2, unless both parents have them ... patience is a virtue !

right now it makes sense. I was thinking those were the new pods already was like man this guy can grow fast.

Can you cross species (anuum and chinese?)
