Devv's 2014- Stick a fork in me, I'm done....

Time for the 2014 start...

Many of these plants were made possible by the generous people of the THP sending me seeds and pods Thanks!

I'm looking forward to warmer weather and dirt day!

I have a bunch of seeds started, and plants at all the stages.

Here's the grow bench, a T8 x4 on top and T5 x4 on the bottom, as you can see it's loaded.

I like starting the seeds in Jiffy Pellets, as soon as they stand up I trim the mesh off and plant them 1/2" proud in a pot, or in this case a cup.

A few plants living under the T5, I'm super impressed with this light!

Thanks Scott. Got my pod porn fix. That sucks about the Douglah. It wasn't me. I haven't been to Texas since I was a kid. LOL. Nice pulls you've got. A 5 foot plant is amazing. Those raised beds look fantastic. That's the way to go as far as your knee is concerned.

As always thanks for sharing Scott.

Chuck

I must say those are some mighty fine looking raised beds.  You should put in a few more.

Those BMJ pods are making my mouth water....can't wait for mine to start.

Jigsaw peppers are awesome....and hot!!!

Love the harvest shot and be safe on your trip!!!

Hi Chuck!

I'm going with raised rows in the garden next year. The knee did good on trip 2, even though I spent way to much time in the ocean. But I still know it's not 100%

Been looking at DR chipper shredders, I want the 3" model. Well what I really want is the PTO driven version in 4" ($3,500). Not gonna happen unless LB wins us some $$$ in Vegas. we are overdue! :D

Just let me know when the landscape timbers go on sale! That sure was a good sale this spring.

Thanks Randy!

One cool thing about our Vegas ventures is the cash we bring is saved coinage, and money LB squirrels away writing websites. The best we have ever done is to come home just $100 down after a 4 day trip, and that included expenses. Hopefully one day we'll get lucky!

Hi Scott,

Hope you do well in Vegas.  Do you need help tending to your plants while gone ???  I could fly / drive down and harvest for you  :D
Good Luck buddy !!!

Actually I have a guy I work with that waters for us. Funny, he doesn't pick any of the supers ;)

Just got in from picking, we got most of the ripe ones, I'm sure we missed a few. Plenty of green peppers still on the plants, and I mean plenty.

Your spread is looking great, Scott; great job of surviving the hot Texas summer!
Love the pics of the pods and harvests, and especially the jungle under the shade cloth!

Sorry to hear about the knee.  Yes, getting old(er) does suck a little    :shh:  but it looks
like you are handling it okay!

Happy trails, brother!

Are you getting good shape from your MoAs?  I have a lot of freaks that don't have the classic shape, at least, not yet.

The plants get a real test while we're gone this week, it's going to hit 100° for a few days. I'm going to double water this afternoon and again in the morning. One thing that's really helped is we have had nice rains this summer. A really rare deal for us. 2.2"s lasted 5 or 6 days. flooding in this heat 2 or 3 days.

The knee is getting better, I try not to overdue which is hard because stuff is not getting done around here. I feel my squatting days are over, so changes are in order.

As for getting old, I'll take it, the alternative sucks :D

I am now, but not at first. They resembled Habs. They straightened up after I pulled the first run.

Great pull Scott! Are the green ones in the sink Jamie's hornets? They look cool.

Ramping up work on the funky reapers. You sure weren't kidding... These guys PRODUCE. I am thinkin the pods they are a little smaller than yours bud I could be wrong.

Have fun in Vegas!

Thanks Adam!

Yes, 4 or 5 were picked this morning.

The Funky Reapers are tiny, like 2/3 the size of my wife's pinky.

Brought a bunch of pods (the 2 larger sink fulls) to lunch and gave them to Andrew the restaurant owner. He bought our lunch, including a couple of Shiners and gave us a $15 gift certificate. Can't beat  that! I'm glad they found a happy home, I'm about out of freezer space.

Great updates Scott! It's nice to see the MoA's you have are similar to mine. Small scorpion tail on some, but it looks like a few grade A's are mixed in there too!

Good luck in Vegas. Never been there myself. My significant other had gone on a ladies trip with her mom, aunts and grandma a number of times prior to the boy being born, but I never had any interest. I'm not into shows, show tunes or gambling. I'm not against it, I'm just happier with $20 in my pocket. That way I can either buy gun powder or beer. Either way I'm buying memories! Good luck sir.

Neil

Daaaaaaaaaaang!!! LONG LONG TIME I haven't been in here!!!!

You have lots of pods coming out of your ears! Everything is looking top notch!

I haven't been on here as much because I got stressed out because of some life issues and my season could have been better but it's not as bad as last year. I have most of my plants alive and really haven't done much to update my glog....

Scott lmk when you come or get here to Vegas I'd really really love to meet up with you and have a beer or something. I'll PM you my number in a minute.

The first MoA's like on that plant usually have the non looking ones. I have 4 or 5 of them, and once they spit out the non's they start to produce the better looking pods.

Mom lives about an hour from Vegas, so it's a mixed trip. A few days there and a few at the timeshare. We treat the casinos like a club (bar), a couple can easily go through some bucks partying. Besides we use our change and some $$ the wife dedicates to the trip from side webpage writing jobs. The other side of the coin is the kids have moved out, and most of the loans are paid off (Dec. is done month) so it's time to do as we please ;)

Pods I have this season!

Sorry about the stresses, but they pass, I've had my share!

From everything I have read, the cristals are better when picked green.  They lose flavor when allowed to ripen to red.  Have you experienced the same?
These are the first pods, and I've yet to try them. Thanks for the tip!

Off to the airport in an hour!
