Dragon49's 2014 Grow Log

It’s time for the 2014 Chile Pepper Grow Log!  This year, I’ve decided to go with the “normal” F1 Superchiles.  It has been a ton of fun growing from my own saved Superchile seeds year after year, but last season I had too many “runty” plants that did not produce well.  I’m of course keeping all of my seeds.  I’m also going to sprout a few Aji Cereza’s.  These are from Peter Merle:

I topped the Pimente de Neyde x Bhut Jolokia F7 and transplanted it into a bigger pot:

I'm trying to root and clone the piece that I cut off:

Here is the Pimente de Neyde x Bhut Jolokia F7 next to two friends under a single bulb T-5 that I just setup.

I just took Neil's advice (http://www.thehippyseedcompany.com/) and sprayed the leaves of my big plants with whole milk as a calcium supplement. He posted that if your plants have a lot of flowers that don't produce pods, this indicates a calcium deficiency and he proposed the sprayed milk as a solution.  I had this problem with my last indoor grow. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and get me tons of pods. :)

Have you had any aphid issues yet?
No aphids.

The only time I ever had aphids was when I bought a plant that came with aphids.  I had to throw it out as I couldn't get rid of them.  I think it is near impossible for me to get aphids when I grow from seed:

My apartment doesn't have any pests.  I live on the 4th floor of a city apartment and am many, many, miles away from any farm which may have aphids.

Say hello to 92,800 lumens (+ another 5,000 shining down on my starter plants).  Anybody suffering from SAD – Seasonal affective disorder, a type of depression from lack of winter sunlight, should come hang out in my living room for a few hours a day.
