favorite books/authors

ok, i mentioned i was going to do this...
when i was a kid you couldn't pay me to read a book but now it might as well be my hobby... (i don't watch a lot of tv, and a few of you have said you don't either so i figure this'll be a good thread)
once again, i'm much too indecisive for one favorite...
all-time, read again and again, faves:
all the typical girly girl ones like anything by austen, jean plaidy, and margaret atwood...
anything by chuck palahniuk (fight club was good, invisible monsters was better)
rebecca by daphne du maurier
other voices, other rooms by capote
the joke by milan kundera
anything by oscar wilde

I'm a bit of a kid when it comes to favourite books:

The Wizard of oz series
The Famous Five

If I have to chose adults I mainly read Autobiographies. Adult books I love are,

Anything by Torey Hayden, I've read them all, and anything to do with Victorian medicine.

When I had the time, I read mostly fantasy novels. stuff like:
  • The Lord of the Rings
  • The Hobbit
  • The Chronicles of Narnia
  • His Dark Materials

But I did enjoy 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' and 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'.

Most of my Library consists of books about fly fishing or bird hunting:)
My favs are
Trout Madness Robert Traver
Trout Magic same as above
The Woods Cop Mysteries and The Snow Fly Joseph Heywood
For the Love of Trout George Griffith
For the Love of a Dog various authors
And too many others to mention
plus a ton of cookbooks(my g/f's way of saying here make me this lol)

I know Boringggggggggggggggg

I like old Stephen King.....80s and early 90s stuff. Especially, The Dark Tower series.

I agree and ummm...I agree. Would also throw in the Odd Thomas series from Dean Koontz.

Bram Stoker - Dracula
is probably one of my all time faves.

I also like books by Dean Koontz, Kishon, books about history, music, movies...

The last good, actually great book I read is "Are you Dave Gorman?" by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace.

I'm currently reading "Disco 2000" by Sarah Champion (ed.), a collection of short stories about the last night of 1999. Pretty good, weird stuff so far!

Lord Of The Rings,Silmarilliion, lost tales..Tolkien(WHEN I WAS YOUNGER).

reading Priestess By alan Richardson(about Dion Fortune)
also re-reading the old straight track, and number of books on ancient megalthic culture...and cough  the odd chili cookbook.:drooling:

I'm into that, too. Did you read the books by Alex Gibson? He's also a great lecturer, if you ever get the chance to listen to him, grab it. He's a great guy, too. We had a beer with him afterwards. He insisted on buying them and had a load of great, funny stories to tell!

Anything by John Grisham...

I think the reason I like him is he is from Mississippi and I was born there...the things he writes about and the terminology he uses are very familiar to me...I have read almost all of his works and each time a new one is released, I get it and am usually done within 2-3 days...

yep read gibsons books from an Archaeological standpoint his books are o.k (his measuring and examination of sites in u.k.ireland and france are good) but he falls short in all the other sciences (not his fault) as he is specializing in one..and speculating on others with little or basic understanding is his weakness.;)
