Getting Fit!

BigB said:
you guys are great. i'm giving my shot at weekday vegetarianism, so meat only on the weekends, friday included.
Let me know if you want some recipes! I've been collecting high protein veg recipes for a while now.

Dropped another 60 miles this morning. Would really like to go for a run but chores are calling. Hope everyone is doing great and getting/staying fit.

Awesome riding! I used to ride ~300 miles/week back in college (UC Santa Barbara) during the season. Road bikes started making my crotch area numb, so I stopped. I have heard the seats are better now.

Work has been killin' my fitness vibe lately.  Day job has been crazy busy this month and the photo work occupies the nights and weekends.  In addition, I'm trying to get my RE license and taking online classes for that.  I am making attempts to get up at least every hour and a half or so and do a few chin ups/push-up or a minute long plank. I need some help with motivation... before I had my trip to CO motivating me.  I feel like my efforts have slacked since then.  Any ideas? Suggestions?  The only goal I have right now is to be able to do a 1 handed push up by my next b-day but that's a long term goal... I need some short term goals that will be challenging but attainable, and help me achieve the long term goal.

Come on Rawk get yo mojo back, you are awesome     Find something fun to do that is active. Push ups and that kind of stuff sucks for me. I always thought I would lift more if weights were not so heavy ;)  Maybe short term goal should be A higher number of two handed push ups?   You are super fit and I know you want to stay that way, make sure you feed the brain its the thing running this whole show.

You were wearing padded shorts right?  Not sure when you whent to college but if it was more than ten years ago then saddles are way better.

I'm at 189 pounds four more to go for the 15 pound club. Anyone else close?

Down to 206, so about halfway there.  This cause/thread has inspired me, so I think I'll keep going and push for 195.  Haven't been there since high school lol!  :)

All week I've been feasting off of takeout and fast food due to my trip. Can't wait to be back in Wyoming where I can exercise and make a decent meal.

I've recently started running again and doing my damnedest to push my self further each time out.
My latest plan to incentivize my outings is to incorporate my favorite soup into my daily runs.
I measured the distance from the kegerator in the man cave, out the door, up the driveway and to the nearest intersecting roadway at 1/4 mile.
My plan is to run there and back equating to 1/2 mile round trip. Upon my return I get a 1 pint pull from the tap.
I'm up to 3 miles a day and starting to have a little trouble with the transition between the stairs to the man cave and the kegerator itself. Damn near twisted my ankle last week.
I'm thinking the run itself negates the additional calories in the soup and therefor is a wash. I can now calculate my distance by pints consumed.
I damn near face-planted the front door yesterday.
My plan is to get to half marathon distance by the end of the year...
Hope I can stand up that long.

No reason to laugh Grant... :). I keed!
In all honesty I am working towards a half marathon in June/16 and running in the Bourbon Chase next fall.
Who says I can't do it?

You CAN do it!  Just make sure when you're training you don't just keep upping the mileage, you need rest days in there and its always good to throw in a work out that isn't running to work other parts of the body too!  And sprint workouts will help your speed!

If you've got access, go swimming every now and then... when I was marathon training I tried swimming as a work out for the first time and I almost drowned... Didn't realize how tough it was, but it improved my fitness levels so much, so fast.

Convinced the dude to help me with acroyoga... Check it out
