off-topic Good Mornin' Thread - For those that get up really early and post

Good morning everyone. It looks to be another hot day, hope the plants are soaking in the heat. Only have 2 zucchini plants, but they are producing like crazy. One of the guys in the community garden has 20 summer squash plants - yes, he IS crazy. The plants are free so he just has to plant them.

Hoe your day is a great one. Drive defensively and stay safe.

Good morning all :)

The squash are starting to get some orange color, a few peppers are starting to get some color, its time to dig up the garlic bed, and looks like we might actually get several days in a row without rain so i can do that without making a muddy mess.

hope all is going/growing well in your gardens and more :D
S.M.I.L.E. and be excellent to each other

Good morning everyone. Its nice to hear about harvesting and sharing. GIPs new squash looks phenomenal - is it a summer or winter squash? Reminds me of the pink banana squash I used to grow and now purchase at the farmers market. Ate my first cucumber for lunch yesterday from a volunteer plant, cant beat it for free!

Best of harvest with your garlic, GIP.

Have a great day and share the harvest. Everyone loves home grown.

C maxima, prettty sure it's a winter squash, with a neat story behind it too.

"This is the squash that gained fame online and became known as the “800 year old squash” which, according to legend, seed was found in a “clay ball” at an historic site in Wisconsin. But other stories state that this squash was found in a cave by the Miami Nation. Whatever the story is, we know that squashes of this type have been grown by Native people in North America for hundreds of years and likely came from the Guatemala area, possibly over 1000 years ago. This fabulous Native American squash first came to our attention in 2015, at the 5th annual Heirloom Exposition in Santa Rosa, California. The magnificent fruit runs about 2-3 feet long and weighs up to 18 pounds. The color is a rich, bright orange, with lighter orange striping running the length of the banana-shaped fruit. The surface is mildly bumpy; the overall appearance is amazingly beautiful. Gete-Okosimin also proves to be delicious--sweet, with hints of melon, and possessing a wonderful smooth texture. We thank Roger Smith for bringing this squash to our attention"

i got my seeds from here:

this is the first year for me growing 'eating squash' instead of just jack-o-lantern pumpkins :)

Sounds good sicman.

We have a day trip to St Augustine planned. About to wake the kids up in 10 min. Hope to be on the road by 645. Might be a wet one up there today. But you know how that goes. Can change at the drop of a hat.

Good morning.  It's Thursday Friday!!!!  Trying to get out of the office by 1:30.  Lots of rain in the area.  Might have to delay my mowing/chores until later in the weekend.  Looks like it could be a total washout tomorrow.  On a positive note, I did see some beer in the garage fridge that's gonna need to be consumed.  Be safe and be good.

Good morning everyone. August - the beginning of harvests for us, cooler summer temps, kids go back to school soon, just an enjoyable month. Sics mowing in the rain does not sound great. I am hosting an iris/plant swap tomorrow so I had better get cracking - lots of stuff to get ready for it.

Have a wonderful day and remember those less fortunate.

good morning all :)
