Grinding herbs and spices

Pippy, you should do fine with a coffee grinder.

I still laugh at remembering Tony05 spending hours and hours using the coffee grinder to grind heaps of dried 7 pots. After doing that he decided to go have a shower and didn't realise that he had a fine coat of powder all over him. Needless to say, his face, arms and legs were all on fire for a good 20 minutes after the shower.....

I actually remembered that I do have a coffee grinder that I used for chillis but it was the cheapest thing I could find and it was crap and wouldn't do any better than giving me flakes!!!!

PF,

You must not have watched Tool Time with Tim Taylor. You can never have too many different appliances (or tools!). :onfire:

I agree, the Magic Bullet will do it all, but in my case I started off with a blender. I needed a food processor for some slicing and dicing and mincing the blender was not good at. Then the coffee grinder for other stuff (plus my daughter likes fresh ground coffee - and she isn't 18 yet).

Now what I need is a combo lawn mower, weed whacker and rotary tiller - all three died within a month last summer. Is there a magic bullet for this area?

Pippy how much do you want to spend?

I've been eyeing that one myself for making rubs.

It looks like the coffee grinder that I started out with.
Too bad you threw it away for that plastic piece of garbage called Magic Bullet  I kid... or do I?

I'm not sure the coffee grinder lets dust in the air while grinding, but it does after lifting the lid! But I like it for making spice from dried peppers.

I'm sure all basic coffee grinders are the same for tight seal, my coffee grinder does let chile powder dust out of the grinding cup, if you grind alot before cleaning it you'll notcie.

Doesn't really worry me. My happy to spend what ever is needed to give me the desired outcome...:)

Me son just spent $120 to buy a paring and a bread knife - and that was with a 15 percent discount. I understand your thoughts, though they are alien to me. They are Global Knives, he is a chef, and he doesn't allow anyone to use them.

I just got that list from a web site and looked at a few others that had the same basic thing........I'm not making the spice for a dedicated meal or anything, I just read about the Mixture on a site I'm looking at getting some spices from and thought it would be cool to try as I had all the ingredients listed.........:)

Imbalance or not, it smells and tates great, and i'm looking forward to trying it tonight. :)

"You are the boss.....To each his own.

Just thought that I could help wrt to contra indicatory spice jumboree
