Guru's Garden - Traveling the World in Search of Peppers

Just starting this glog now so it's one less thing to do in a few months when I'm knee deep in compost and getting things in the ground.

Not much to report at the moment. Strains yet to be determined, but I'll probably end up growing too many like always...lol

Only thing that's going on right now is a clean back patio and the chickens doing their part turning over my compost pile on the daily. Intersted in seeing how the soil microbes appreciate the added chicken poop!

Hope everyone has had a decent winter so far and here's to happy germination!

EDIT UPDATE: This glog has turned into an ongoing overwintering, greenhouse and soil building how-to!

You sir, are awesome! Got your pledge! Thanks for supporting us! I'll see to it that some fatalii seeds get in your box of goodies along with the album! Yeah we sure did destroy our goal, and I'm super stoked about that. It ends at 9pm est tonight! The mixes coming back from our mix guy are really rockin hard, so I'm very excited to hear the end result as I'm sure everyone else is! And yes we should get the packages out early June, but if something happens just let me know and I'll make sure you are covered. Enjoy the album man!

Thanks for throwing in the seeds - that's awesome! I love the kickstarter idea and the other kind of micro finance movements.  It's such a cool way to get music out there (and other things) and support people who are talented.  You guys did have some awesome prize packages, btw.  I'll be moving on June 16, but I know the pastor who is moving in after me, so even if it comes after that, we can work it out.  I am excited to give things a listen though.

With the conifer wood being a poor source for RCW, it wasn't a matter of low pH, but rather it being a poor lignin source.
I see, and understand the concern. As I stated, when used in combination with deciduous chips, all is well. I'd be more worried about the ph and terpenes in conifer material. Not how slowly it will break down :)

Confier material lowers ph, while deciduous tends to raise it. To get all the goodies without much ph influence, a mix is best. :)

oh you know it. I've been on a big absinthe kick as of late. I make wine out of muscadines, still that into brandy and then macerate my herbs into that. Then it's still again and infuse with my coloring herbs. I've got a bunch of single malt ready for a spirit run as well. Need to get on that! Thanks for the reminder...lol just another thing to add to the list. I'm hitting the AT for the third time this year on Friday. I've gotta get the fence done, peppers in the ground, drip lines installed and more mulch applied before then! Ha

Cute squirrel but not so cute when they're munching on your plants... I would keep a close eye on that one..
He loves veggies. But he isn't old enough to venture out into the property on his own just yet. All hes comfortable with is following us around and using us as his tree. We're making him an outdoor staging area/cage. Eventually he will learn to be a real squirrel.

Garden fence came out nice.

So where to you keep Dingle berry?
