Hello From Zürich...

Hi All,

This seems to be a great forum and I'm glad I found it...

Firstly I'm from South Africa where my dad was basically a chilli farmer, growing all sorts of chillies and other veggies, so naturally there was always heat in our meals.
I now live in Switzerland and as I have an apartment with no garden, or balcony for that matter, I started a little indoor setup to grow my chillies.
Starting with a small plastic container with some moist papertowel in it I threw in some Pepperoncini (as they're known here) seeds in and some Habaneros from back home, presto they Grew.
Next step was a small pot on my window sill and some potting soil where the small seedlings were put into. I started reading all over the net about growing plants indoors, and realised I needed some lights.
I got some normal CFL's and some stainless steel bowls as reflectors, and the difference was immideately noticable with the lighted plants doubling in size over the non-lighted variety.
In hindsight they were the wrong coulor temp as the plants are very spindly and tall where the others are shorter but look much better.

Regardless I pushed on, here in Switzerland people love hot food but it's really difficult to find hot sauce/chillies/spices so I though I could fill a niche...

Yesterday my "Rainforest 18" made by GHE arrived and I set it up. I took some of the flowerbox plants and transplanted them into the hydro system, but really thought they'd die as they wilted so badly, this morning they were strong as oxes. Great.

I look forward to sharing this growing in areoponics with you all and am glad to answer questions you may have.

Here are links to some videos which I have made in time lapse of my chillies...

New vid - The chillies are pansies

Hi Guys,

It seems that once the lights were removed and they were exposed to sunlight they couldn't handle it.
The lights I had on them were normal CFL'l but since they were of the warm colour variety the plants grew very tall and spindly.
I now recieved my Envirolight Blue light but it only worked for 5 minutes. I sent it back  Anyway, enjoy the vid.
