media Hesi coco 1-component fertilizer for coco growing

My dream would be to become a pro chili grower or even a chili sauce maker one day, but for now this small scale growing/testing all i can muster at the moment, but i am quite happy that this little topic of mine have gathered so much interest and quite a bit of entertainment value too. :rofl:

Chili growing is not everyone's hobby or doing it as a living here of course because the cold short summer is exactly not very good for any serious chili growing, but the ones that do grow chilis in here are very enthusiastic about it and can find clever ways to grow them. :dance:
 
I'm just yanking your chain...  Of course, that's true.  Plus, every good grower should have a niche, right?

Yes and i do have few other niche hobbies too that most people living here have not even heard about. I did try growing Rocotos few times, but it was not my thing because they are so slow to do anything, but they do love our cooler weather in the summer and i have seen plenty of pictures in our Finnish forum from growers that just use hanging pots, put them outside in the balcony/greenhouse during the summer and by the time the summer is finally over, the plants are full of ripe pods.
 
 
Another update:

Aji cristal seems to be the happiest Hesi coco test subject of the bunch, i counted at least 12 forming pods already and not a single flower drop thus far on this plant.
 

 
Aji lemon drop have terminated a lot of tiny pods so far, but that is nothing unual in this time of the year or for this variety. But it seems the ones that formed last week have stayed on, so perhaps the weather have been getting better for the plant.
 

I see few new pods forming on this Hot paper lantern as the weather starts to improve for the better for those sensitive c.chinense.
 
It is time to do a picture comparison, how the plants have turned from ugly ducklings to something more beautiful:

Hot paper lantern, lemon drop and the Aji cristal are now pushing so many pods, that only the always excellent producing Aji golden can rival the output of those Hesi coco test subjects when it comes to how early plants have started producing pods.
 
My feelings rights now are, that the Hesi coco doesn't seem to be the limiting factor when it comes to the overall pod production of the test plants, if the growing environment is also suitable for chili growing.

Lotta pods and flowers man rock on! Gotta love the simplicity of 1part nutes, especially if they can provide on par or same service as the multi parts-in with you in that the nutes probably aren't the limiting factor as long as basic needs are met but rather environmental and genetic.

This Hesi coco experiment is going forward rather nicely, so at least the fertilizer is not a failure at this point.
 
It is a bit of late game by now, but i am pretty convinced by now that the Hesi coco is a good product for c.chinense too when i look at the pod making machine, that is the Hot paper lantern. So i converted one of my precious Naga morich plants for the test:

This one is flushed with pure rainwater and is fed with the Hesi coco nutrient from now on.
 

It's bigger meanier brother will be fed with the Ghe combo like usual to see any changes the fertilizers might make to the plants appearance.

They are doing quite alright and if i ever need to use the tapwater again, i bought the Canna organic acid ph down fluid and the Ghe ph test kit to be finally able to make my tapwater more suitable for growing.
 
I dont know if the flushing of the coco coir of extra salts did something to the Naga morich plant or the added Hesi nutes.

But to me the plant now look a bit more healthy green and that is not a bad thing at all. This Naga morich plant have grown quite a bit in few days and i finally today started to see those tiny pod starts in both of my Naga morich plants.

Aji cristal is the tallest chili plant i got and the plant is about 180cm now, i was thinking of topping one the main stem when it grows to 2 metres:

 
Those plants look fantastic.
The bigger Aji Lemon pods are really beautiful when they ripen to yellow,. Give them enough chance to fully ripen on the plant , even a week after they have turned yellow completely .

I am pretty impatient when it comes to the pod ripening and Aji lemon drop is pretty slow to ripen. If i wait a week after they have turned to yellow, the frost will surely come and do them in. :rofl:
