The Scoville Heat Scale.

The Scoville scale is a measure of the 'hotness' of a chilli pepper or anything derived from chilli peppers, i.e. hot sauce. The scale is named after Wilbur Scoville who developed the test in 1912, for more information see Measuring Chilli Heat.

I would love to know how many scu's the Trinidad Scorpion has. Has that been stated anywhere. Some people have told me it is right up there with some of the Naga peppers.

855,000 (reported) The Naga Jolokia pepper (Capsicum frutescens), not confirmed ??? --- I thought it was the C.Chinense that was the hot

Coyote - if you wanna try something in the ~200,000 range, my favorite is Vicious Viper. It IS an extract sauce, so there are people here that will immediately reject it without trying it. But it has a great flavor, and you can BARELY taste the extract zing. IMO, the HOTTEST non-extract sauces (Lethal Ingestion, 10, habanero or fatalii puree's, etc) are NOWHERE NEAR 200,000. Even though they taste fantastic, they're simply not that hot. If I had to guess, I'd say the hottest non-extract sauces I've ever had were somewhere around 100,000. Fresh habaneros are ALWAYS hotter than a natural sauce. So, actually, you might just wanna buy some fresh habs and slice them up - put them on a sandwich! Fresh habs are better than most sauces, anyway...

The singular exception I've found is a guy who lives a couple towns over, who makes fresh pepper mash - that stuff is lethal. But nothing in a bottle comes close.

I'd imagine BB's Naga Concentrate would blow your head off, but you can't find that stuff in a store.

Only problem i have is with this one:
"5,300,000 Police grade Pepper spray"

My buddy's a state trooper here and his state police issue spray is no where near as hot as this....i've sprayed it into my mouth just to try it.....its pretty hot, but not that hot(tastes like moose shit too)

This article says Bear Spray is around 200,000
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu5ayz...w.yoursafetystore.com/hotter-pepper-spray.htm

And this one states something similar, that they sell their product which contains 200,000 SU
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu5ayz...w.yoursafetystore.com/hotter-pepper-spray.htm

But then this article kinda goes along with my rating and HippySeed's, stating that most effective sprays are around 1.5 Million, but some boast up to 7.5 Million.
http://www.naselfdefense.com/Frequently Asked Questions about pepper sprays.htm#why

So there ya go, I guess there is stuff up past 5 Million out there, kinda scary lol.

In other news, I got my Wanza's Wicked Temptation sauce today. It boasts 2 Million SU, but I think it has to be exaggerating, OR the inactive ingredients have caused it to lose heat.

From the website:

A combination of pepper extracts that total over 2 million Scoville Heat Units blended with Red Savina (R) Habaneros to make this sauce one of the hottest available. Wanza hides her fire behind a complex personality. Starting with smoldering heat and building to an inferno that makes her irresistible!
Heat Scale: 10
Scoville Units: 2,000,000+
Size: 5 fl. Oz.
Ingredients: Vinegar, Habanero Peppers, Oil of Capcaisin, Tomatoes, Mustard (Vinegar, Water, #1 Grade Mustard Seed, Salt, Tumeric, Paprika, Spices), Papaya, Guava, Pineapple, Banana, Water, Sugar, Passion Fruit Juice, Guava Juice.

That's a LOT of ingredients for hot sauce haha. So yeah my assumption is that the inactives toned it down. Also they state it's made from peppers with a combined SU count of 2,000,000 so that could mean that the peppers used are all of lesser heat.

Anyway, yeah it's not as firy as I thought it would be. I still can't put my finger on how it tastes, it's kind of a rough taste to be honest. Ah well, for 7 bucks what do you want lol.

Coyote, if you want something extremely hot, you might want to try our DM MKII elixir. Considering it's in a 12 ounce bottle, you'll have it for a LONG time.

***nodding in agreement with Creator***

I have a bottle of the DMII and it will probably last me 2 years or more...hope it stays good in the fridge that long....as Creator said, it is really not for eating on its own, rather used for mixing it with other sauces to add heat...

good Job Creator...

Yeah, that's actually the same way I use Endorphine Rush. About 4-5 drops in a teaspoon of Texas Pete. The two compliment each other tremendously, Pete's a good canvas for any very hot sauce.

I'm not quite sure why a lot of people on the board don't care for the taste of Endorphine Rush, I actually really like it. It's got this cool sweet hot taste, with a smidgen of tang. I admit that by itself it is a tad harsh, blending it with the Pete makes it taste great to me. I'm sure there's better stuff out there, but I'm havin fun with it so far.

I'd like to get my hands on somethin a little tangier and maybe less sweet, same amount of heat or hotter.

eh we are all different... what I like you may not like -- But I do agree with you on Marie Sharpes !!! thats a standard in our fridge...

I got inspired by reading an old post of IGG's last night when he made the Zero pizza so I poured little dots of DM MKII on my pizza before I baked it. WHOA!!! Had my head spinning for a while!:mouthonfire:

Oh Creator, I plan to send ya a M.O. this time when I get my stim check in the next few days..I just gotta have some 'o dat. Heheh.

Drat CC's... ;)

I thought about starting a blog, because I don't like posting topics that aren't worthy of it, but I don't really feel I'm enough a part of the scene to start a blog either. I love sauce, but I don't think my blog would have very much to say. So, I'm just gonna blog here for a while lol.

Further down the Endo Rush path...I finally taste that extract taste everyone hates. I don't like it either. The Endo's cool cuz it sorta hides it better than other sauces, but once you taste it and recognize it, you can taste it in like every extract sauce afterward. Oh I also got Satan's Blood (900,000SU) but that is literally chili extract and vinegar solely, and I only got it cuz of the cool bottle, and for nostalgia. That was one of the first crazy sauces I saw when I was a teenager.

SOOO, the hunt for a good hot sauce, lots and lots of heat, but no extract and great flavor begins.

I think i'll hit up sweatnspice and browse for a new sauce :) If anyone has some good recommendations from this site, I'd be willing to do that too. I just won't do paypal, it's the most annoying purchasing mechanism ever created.

CM, try Lethal Ingestion by CaJohn. It is extract heat without the extract taste.
If you want a step down from there also try CaJohn's new Killer line, hottest Jalapeno, Chipotle and Cayenne Hot Sauce out in the market. These sauces are so good and have so much heat it will surprise you.
Whilst you are ordering those, you must try the "10" product line. CaJohn has over 170 different products and if you come to Weekend of Fire in Fairfield, OH Aug 2-3 you can try each and everyone and then Monday Aug 4th he has a free tour of his factory in Columbus. I visited his store in February and he has all his hot sauces laid out from mild all the up to insanely hot for anyone who wants to try them. You can work up the ladder until your tongue is numb. :mouthonfire:
