First Rick, and now you!  Is everyone starting earlier this season, or am I just behind already, LOL?!

Your grow is looking great, and I haven't even started working on my growlist yet!

Best wishes in the New Year!

Thanks Bonnie.  I haven't officially started my grow yet, just tinkering around we a couple varieties to see what happens.

I have two Neyde Bhut crosses up, and all 6 of my brown bhuts are up.  I have three yellow Manzano up in one cell, one is good, one died, and one has a serious helmet working.  It is one more than I had and perhaps early enough to get pods off of.

Orange peter and Orange manzano still haven't popped up.  I am excited on the Neyde Cross.  Not sure what it will look like, but I imagine it has some heat.

I misspoke, it is 6 brown moruga that are up, not bhuts.

And they're off!  The little sprouts look great; nice, green,
healthy cotys.

Hope your Christmas is a good one.

Congrats on the new ladies, those pubes sure are hard to get going. I've run into the same thing low germ rates, then helmets.

Jason gave me a tip for damping, Hydrogen Peroxide full strength. A cap full at the base. Can use more than once..

Well the tally for the brown moruga is up to 7 plants.  I thought for sure I went three in a cell.

For two years now I have tried to get a peter to come up without any luck.  Perhaps bad seed.  2011 I had a non yellow manzano in the garden, but none of my current orange is coming up and I am on my third go at it this year.

How long does everyone leave full light on their new plants before they move them to a cycling light source?  I probably go to long and that might be why my plants are so huge by plant out.

Thanks
HBJ

I don't at all. Once they pop, pull them out of the heated germination chamber and  I put them straight in the grow room with everything else which is on a 12/12 timer this early in the winter. I don't want them too huge, I have  lot of plants to fit in there still.

But could one argue leaving them close to the constant light source early on can give them a thicker stem?  I know what you mean about the grow room being crowded....The last month is the worst for watering them all.  I am begging to plant out at that point in time lol

Just did a quick cleaning of the grow room.  I have 6 4 foot sections with two banks of light in each one, and I can expand this to 10 sections if I need to.

I also have a 4 foot grow table with two banks of lights that I can use.

My two foot metal table gets a little warm for growing, but makes a great germ table.

Sounds like a lot of room, but once the plants start getting ready to harden off, it gets crowded.  I can use the area I first set up for my OW to put a lot of plants....depending on the temps, but this would be April, so the temps should be pretty good.   Could be a pre-season harden off section :)

Nice list Jeff! How are the overwinters holding up?

Nice list Jeff.

When are you putting seeds in the dirt for the bulk of your crop? I'm planting everything else I need to plant some time in Jan. Yes, the grow room will get real crowded, but  want peppers early darn it.

They are all holding up well except for the chocolate habanero.  IT is browning and has some wilt leaf going on.  It is the only OW I have from the front garden, all the rest came from the back garden.

The bullk of the planting will be in January.  I am just playing around with some staggered plantings right now.  Tomatoes won't go in until February.  They can get quite tall if I plant them too soon, but the more stem I bury during plant out, the better root system I will get too.

Some of my brown moruga are setting their first trues.  Loving it.

Got out with the nice weather today and cut some posts for a pickle fence in the front garden.  Now I will be able to rotate them.

The butch T nots (yellow) and the burgundy I planted last night are still not up :(

Really happy that the Neyde cross popped up so well.  With only having five or six seeds and the issues I had last year I was a bit worried on these.

Just looking at the pic of the Neyde from the 25th to the pic from today, I think if I am really quiet, I can hear them grow :)

That looks just too good, my friend!

Do you use powder in the recipe, or ?

Quite simple recipe.

3 cups chocolate chips, I prefer the 60% dark
1 can condensed milk 14 ounce
half stick parkay
1/4 teas pepper powder

Heat in microwave for about three minutes or until you can stir it smooth.  If you want to add a dash of vanilla you can.

Once it it stirred smooth, rubber spatula it into a sheet pan and let cool.

I went with chenzo powder and went slightly over the 1/4 teas.  Gives a nice warm feeling to the throat and everyone can eat it.

I ordered some more strawberry plants this year.  Usually get tired of taking care of them and keeping the water grass pulled from the rows.  Trying something different this year.

I am seeing a nice raised strawberry bed here.  Just need to find the proper location and make sure I have a mat underneath to keep that grass from trying to push up through the bed.
