Mine didn't do well last year either. Goliath are pretty warm and so are Bikers.  I believe Bikers are hotter but I think the Goliath are larger.

I think Goliath are hybrids and you can't save the seeds from them and have them grow true.
That's good to know. I didn't realize that. I have a few sprouts so we will see what they turn out as.

You should have plenty of time to get some more true seeds and get them in the ground.  Good luck.

Jeff,

I can see you're going to have space issues with all those beautiful young ladies you have around your place.

Your Calzone or Strombolli, looks really good, can't beat a good Italian dinner!

Oh yeah, lots of room issues coming my way!!!
Went down to put my babies to bed and I checked the remaining few pellets and the yellow dt is starting to pop.  Love it!!!

I also counted the number of hook or better Bonda Ma Jaques I have up just from the germing behind the wood stove.  18 plants!!!  This doesn't count the 4 plants I already have up.  I know I don't like culling but holy crap am I going to have a ton of pods if I keep all these.  22 plants will have to go into a raised bed by themselves.  Awesome!!!

Brown Moruga and Neyde X

Seems like a lot of people are growing the Brown Moruga this year.  Can't wait to see how they'll turn out.

A lot of helmets in this batch of Jaques, but they all seem to be pushing them off fine.

I the final results are in on my tray of 72 I started.  62/72 up and only one variety didn't make it up, the Cardi.  White bhut was 2/3, Chocolate bhut was 2/3, Burgundy was only 1/3, but I have others up for that one, Peach X was 2/3, MoA 10/12 and HBJ 15/18.

Not quite the percentage I was hoping for, but I have a good showing of the peppers I wanted.

Since my plant out isn't until May 15-20, I think my next pepper planting can wait until March 1st.  This should give me a good break on grow room crowding issues.

Is that pulled Pork?

You're having better germ rates then I did this season. A heating mat is going to help next year.

You'll still have a ton of plants!

Finished product.  Pretty good.

Pork butt that spent the night in the crock pot.  Then I caramelized some onions, added the pork, garlic, hot pepper powder, and some homemade salsa.  Got it cooking good and stuck it on the wood stove to cook down.

Easier to cook these in a skillet instead of a deep fryer as they wanted to float on me.

I will have all the peppers I want, but I keep thinking about 20+ Jaques and shake my head.  Had so much trouble getting these up I sure ain't going to let them go now.  I'll find a home for them.  I got room to plant them out, but man the poddage will be unreal.

Had a brainstorm guys.  Actually, it is more of a correction of a possible brain fart.  The basement temp outside the grow room is running 50 degrees.  This is with no heat.  I still have enough shelves in the grow room right now for what I have growing.  I am leaning towards not starting anything more until March 1st.  I don't plant out until May 15-20 and all the Chinense are done.  Should be plenty of time.  March 1st outside temps can fluctuate enough to make wood burning not worth while.  What little heat needed will be done by the furnace.  Thermostat is upstairs, but the vents will be open down there.

So mid March to April first, why couldn't I move the OW back out to the table they were on before winter hit?  They are growing right now in the grow room and might be trying to kick out some blooms.  I think the temps down there should be in the 60s at minimum by that time of year.  I think I can move them out and free up two more shelves.

I can also move out these older plants to the other table I had the OW plants on.  Should hold about 25 gallon pots.  I will be lowering the temps in the grow room by that time as well so it shouldn't be a big shock to them.  Will have to move some fans into that room though.

That's my newest plan.  Going to need the space once the Forest of Jaques takes off.

And another MoA popped up.  Over three weeks in and things are still popping.  Brings me to 10 MoA up this year and I have room for 12 in the spot I want to put them.

Just potted up the first four Jaques that I had planted.  I knew a 5th had came up, but as I worked the plants apart, I ended up with 7.  But one is on life support, one is in ICU, and one is in rehab.  Camera is charging up, so I will get some pics up later.  Also have 18 more pots filled up and getting ready for the next Jaques pot up that will happen later this week.

As always, I like to share my poddage.  Sharing poddage is how I ended up with these plants in the first place....sort of a try before you buy (grow) system!!!

Wow that OW looks like thinks it's summer!

Sounds like a good plan to conserve space. Wish I had a basement, I don't know why they don't have them here. The soil is stable and drainage is good. My brother is in Ohio, has a basement and the house has french drains and a pump system because it's wet. Whats the deal Tejas builders?

I had to separate a few plants this weekend, they were about the same size as yours. LB got me a soup bowl and filled it with water, I laid them in roots down, swished them around and easily pulled them apart.

Keep it green Jeff!

OW Question

My chocolate habanero had leafed out while it was in the unheated basement, just like all the other OW plants.  As winter progressed it's leaves withered and the plant stalk slowly started to turn brown.  Thinking it might be too cold in the unheated part, I moved them all into the grow room.  It continued to turn the rest of the way brown.  I checked it today and it would appear that everything above ground is dead.  I was hoping for some kind of growth once it got into the heat, but no.  Is this a common occurrence?

My brainstrain has some leaves that are withering on it now, but the stalk is all green still.  My Primo is doing well, but for one limb looks to have an end that has died.  Are these par for the course or do you just lose a few from time to time.

Not going to lose any sleep over those, but don't want it to happen to my bhuts, 7 pod, datil, and fatalii OW plants either.

Thanks
HBJ
