hobbies How many people are gamers?

thing about pc's that many folks forget ... is that you can get so many very good games on the cheap. steam is constantly selling year old games for like 20 bucks...

i got civ 5+ the expansions for like 6 bucks during a sale.  got X3 for like 20 bucks on sale...  that being said... even a cheap decent gaming pc is going to be around 800 bucks.

i run a 2560x1440 monitor, so needles to say my pc was much more expensive.

I play civ 5 too, i play on steam

I also have a ps3 account

On-line racing (R-Factor) and occasional flight (I still enjoy the old IL-2 series) sims on a PC.
Some 4X types of games too, such as Gal Civ, as well.

Wouldn't own a console. IMO they are too limited for what they cost.

I did the WoW thing for a couple of years back from the Outlands through Cataclysm but they lost me with the pandas which is a good thing. Now that I have a teenager and a tween, I have no time for that anymore anyway.

I can't fine Red Dead Revolver....Red Dead Redemption was the first game I tried and loved it...have now gone to 100% completion 4 times (I think...maybe 5)...it takes about 60 hours to do that...I am currently playing GTA5 and already have well over 100 hours on the game...am at 92% complete....I will have to try and find RDRevolver and New Vegas

one thing for you guys to remember is that I live by myself, have no children and can do pretty much as I please...I love being retired, divorced, and debt free...
Sorry, I forgot to mention that red dead revolver is for xbox, (showing my age) you can play it on 360 but graphics wont be as good as rd revolver. Still a really good game. Dark Souls is a hard game and yes you will die ALOT! but to me thats ok. Its a very strategic game and you will need the help of the internet along the way. You start out really weak and build up you character. Kinda confusing in the begining but once you get going its a blast. Last I played this I had about 150 hrs in it and was no where near finishing the game. It actually does have an ending but Im not sure how many people can actually achieve it. I love games like this that take forever and have alot of challenges/puzzles. I feel like it was worth the money when i can play a game for a couple months and still have work to do. They actually have a dark souls 2 out now but i havent tried it.

Now i don't play often as once...
Online i can't play often due to ugly connection... Only game i've played seriously is Killing Floor.

I really like rpgs (old ones likes Dungeon Master or like Baldur's Gate or little indies like Knights of the Chalice (masterpiece)). I want to play Wizardry 6/7 sooner or later.
I like also roguelikes but i've never played them seriously asnd turn based games in general.
After some time there are finally some really good rpg coming...

Also FPS. Old ones as Doom/Quake. I'm a big fan of Stalker series.

I like also good action games like Severance, Dark Souls and Mount & Blade.

At the moment i don't play a lot but i check development of some games...

I have a PS3 with a bunch of games, but all I really play anymore is FIFA 14.  I've been hooked on that game for months now.

I'm sure that will change when the new Madden comes out next month.  But then I'll be back on FIFA once again in September when the new one is released.

I like them all really - i play on-line its a good distraction. I haven't been on as much lately working on other projects its usually early Saturday morning so I dont wake my house and neighbors with my shenanigans

I'd say I'm an avid gamer along with my better half.  I love that my woman can play games with high skill level (sometimes even better than me, but don't tell her I said that).

My game catalog is insane and the only console I don't have of the last decade is the Wii U.  About to fire up The Last of Us Remastered to play through again on the PS4 when I get home tonight as it is likely my favorite game of all time from playing on the PS3 a year ago.  Can't wait!  40+GB download though so I'm glad I could start it from work!

Currently playing:  Battlefield 4, CoD: Ghosts, Destiny Alpha and Beta (just ended), Wolfenstein, Watch Dogs (meh so far), working on platinum trophy for Infamous: Second Son, Walking Dead: Season 2, Ys: Memories of Celceta (very good Vita game), Child of Light, Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassins Creed Black Flag, FIFA 14, PES 2014, just finished South Park The Stick of Truth (AWESOME), Thief, Borderlands 2 (4th or 5th play through... lost count at Ultimate Vault Hunter mode) and a few others I can't remember.

Hmmm... that's pretty sad looking at that list!  I wonder how much time I actually spend playing a week... I know that my Borderlands 2 characters all have over a week of solid gameplay logged to them and my Commando is currently at 24 1/2 days of game time logged.  ***Axton throws out a turret***  "YOU GET A BULLET, AND YOU GET A BULLET. EVERYONE GETS A BULLET!"   Man oh man I love that game.

As stated earlier in the thread, Red Dead Redemption was the shit.  I heard rumors they are finally working on a sequel which I won't really comment on my stance because I don't want to spoil the game's ending for anyone.

FIFA 14 is my go to for games.  I play that like no other.  FIFA 15 is out September 23rd and will be a pain in the butt trying to manage playing that, Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, Alien Isolation, Drive Club, Evolve, The Evil Within, Assassins Creed Unity, etc. etc. all coming out in roughly a month's time frame.

This is the level of ridiculousness we have reached.  We have systems in the bedroom with a 50" Sony 3D TV as well as the living room with a 65" Samsung F8000 (my baby!) along with two copies of some games (Borderlands 2 x 2!) for coop play.  We actually get into fights over who plays on what setup sometimes.  God I love that woman.

EDIT: Fixed some (not all) bad grammar.  Games can really get me going.  Much like soccer/the English Premier League/Arsenal.

FIFA 14 is my favorite game, hands down.  Madden 25, NBA 2K14 and NHL 14 have all been neglected ever since I bought FIFA.

Which system do you play on?  I'm on the PS3.

PES 2014 on PS3 and FIFA 14 on PS4.  I got FIFA 13 on PS3 though!

If we're ever on the same console you can feel free to play me.  Heck, send me a friend request if you feel like it (and anyone else on here for that matter)... PSN ID is same as my user on here.

Ronnie! I never would have picked you as being a gamer brother!

I like the same games you do by the look of it, PS3 is the platform i use. If you want something that will eat loads of your time i suggest Minecraft, it will feed the engineer in you. Just be warned days have been known to fade away whilst playing it.

Just out of interest how long did it take you to complete the story line in GTAV?

cool Nova....I wasn't a gamer until I got divorced and I figured buying an XBox (or something) would scratch that "adictive" itch better than going to Winstar Casino did....and a hell of a lot cheaper...

It didn't take long for me...I play pretty slow...probably 40-45 hours I think...I am trying for 100% and am at 92 now....the helicopter portion of flight school kills me...I'm just too slow...and target shooting is really hard for me using Franklin...haven't tried Trevor or Michael...

I am running the canals on the motorcycle now as Franklin....have run the course about 6 times and the best I have done is 2nd...

It's something for me to pass the time (read hours on end) with...

I'm a PC gamer from way back. I've played all versions of COD far to much and was the owner if a COD4 clan that had 130 members at one stage.

These days I'm playing battlefield 4 a bit but I'm absolutely hooked on TITANFALL and when ever I'm home I can't stop playing it!!! I just love it
