How much are you willing to pay?

I have been thinking about this after the comments about the white Bhut seeds cost. Everyone has a different idea of what is to much for something. I would like members to post what their idea of a fair price for a rare plants 1 seed, 2 pod containing seed, 3 started plant but not fruiting yet. Since we have all been commenting on the white Bhut Jolokia lets use this as our bases for the answers posted and lets put the answer at a single pod or start and for 10 seeds on the seed price.

I would pay up to five bux for a start. Two bucks for a pod (with seeds included) and for a pack of ten seeds you aint getting more than a fiver either. Trading is good!

I have found just the plant that I'm willing to spend well to be able to produce. It's very rare and would carry a lot of value in trades.

Seeds > $3.00 per for a $30.00 package of 10
Pod > $30.00+ for one
Started plant but not fruiting yet > $30.00+ for one

I would prefer the seeds first, pod second and the plant last. I know that I'm obsessed, but I can't help it!!

This is about the same line of thought I have but in the case of most hot peppers from what I have read on here I would put pods first then seeds and finish up with starts. The reason is there are way to many posting on here with pics of the peppers and get their hearts stomped as we kindly point out that there special pepper they bought or grew from seed they got is not what it was supposed to be. A pod could contain no seed or have been hybridized by another type but if it looks like it is supposed to then chances are pretty good most if not all the seeds should produce the same. SO that rare white Bhut (not from sunburn)would be what is was supposed to be.

I think it depends on alot of factors from person to person.
But all those factors really just boil down to..

How bad do you really want em?

Everyone's going to have a different answer for this one.

Have you tried the white bhut pods? I don't think I would bother unless I tried a fresh pod and really liked the taste. I wouldn't grow a certain plant just it's rare if it didn't taste good. I really don't care for the taste of a Bhut after growing a plant a few years ago. Yeah it's hot, but there are just sooo many better "tasting" hot plants available.

Just my 2 centavos.

I'm with the wait and see crowd UNLESS the seed was from someone I absolutely trust and have seen his pics over the years to know he has the real deal and would not BS about a rare pepper. To clarify that his or her because some of the lady seed suppliers are very trustworthy.

I would pay no more than 8 bucks for 10 seeds of any kind. Most of these new crosses are not even stable enough to be considered pure . Just my opinion.
