chinense I tried my first homegrown bhut and 7 POD

I'm not as brave as some of you here so I didn't have the guts to eat them whole.

First on friday I took a small bhut jolokia and cut it in 4 pieces (lengthwise) and ate one piece. I managed to chew it for a couple of seconds and swallow it. The taste was great and the heat was extreme. the burn lasted for about 25-30 minutes :hell:

On saturday I did the same proces with a 7 POD. The first 2 or 3 seconds I enjoyed the great flavor and then the heat came, I barely managed to swallow. Because I tried the bhut a day earlier I thought I could also handle a piece of 7 POD, big mistake :mouthonfire:. The burn of the 7 POD was almost unbareble and I have to admit I had some milk after 2 minutes. The heat kept building and I just couldn't take it anymore.

Conclusion: I can handle Bhut Jolokia but I need a bit more practice with the evil 7 POD :hell:

Way to go Vincent.

I've had a sliver of Bhut but haven't worked up the nerve to do the 7 yet. I think I'll give the 7 powder a chance first. The description of your experience sure doesn't give me any incentive to do it though.

Yeah, I am with Patrick, although I think I am still farther behind than him because I have not yet tried even a sliver of Bhut.

My first ripe 7pod this season was a beautiful large bumpy red one with a pointed end on it, and I chopped the whole pepper up fine and mixed it into a red potato to go along with some fried catfish... yeah, it was hotter than my favortie fatalli's... also, later it caused a fair amount of discomfort going through the digestive tract... it was also hotter than the bhuts I grew...

apple pie

i know where your coming from. I made powder out of most of my 7 pot and will use it sparingly. I wet my finger and dipped it into the powder to have a taste. WOW! The heat felt on my lips, tomgue and back of my throat was unbearable. I will try to use a few of these pepeers in a sauce, but will probably cut the sauce with a lot a fruit. i do believe the adage that one 7 pot will flavor 7 pots of stew.

After hearing everyone talk about how evil they are I'm gonna have to grow some 7 pots next year - they sound like they're beyond belief.
