Just figured it would be cool to be able to ask a doctor about some different medical questions. I'm sure it would not be too fun to answer medical questions while you are off duty. Still, it would be cool if there was one. I know I have a few questions myself!

Hi Hot Pooper. I am a GP. As you wrote I am not up to having ordination time when off duty. So I will not have a column or regular show here. If pepper related health questions or health questions of common interest come up and if I know an answer I will post it. But I will not answer individual health questions and there are important reasons not to do that. There is no such thing as a telephone or online diagnosis! Without an examination, a profound case history and some technical or biochemical tests I can't diagnose a disease or prescribe a therapy. And since I am used to act responsibly and intend not to harm anybody I won't even try to.
I totally understand Armadillo's point, for legal reasons plus diagnosing something in a forum is hard to do let alone will the information you get is correct. I'm not saying Armadillo's advice is not good & I believe him to be who he say's he is... just saying meeting face to face with your doctor would be the best advice to get plus you never know if some crackpot comes on here & says they're a doctor & gives you some false info.

Its all good man! Thats all I was TRYING to do. Just get people talking. Wasnt thinking I would get a cure, or even a diagnosis. Just would have been nice to get pointed in a general direction, ya know? (I mean that for anyone that wanted to talk to a doctor, not just me.)

it doesnt offend me. if you really thought about this subject then you'd realize the legal reasons & yes people have been sued over stuff what people say online (do they win that suit I dont know but the lawsuits have been brought on)
then if you were a doctor how would you feel if everyone you met kept asking you about medical advice, on your off time wouldnt you like to step away from your job & enjoy your time off from your job w/o being bothered from others pestering you about advice.

Sheesh,doctors, they got it easy! I own a ute and I'm constantly pestered to help people move house, pick up the lounge/fridge/bulky item they bought.

I can understand where people would feel that way. That's why I mentioned it. But if someone has a problem with something like that, why even answer the question? I could go on stirring the pot. Not TRYING to.

Yep, I talk theology all the time. But I'm not usually sued for it. Of course, if I'm wrong, the penalties are a lot harder and longer.
But then again, some hard-core Chile Heads might enjoy that burn.

Hot Pooper, you didn't offend me and maybe I have been misunderstood. It's not only the legal issues. If I give any advice then I am responsible for all that comes of it. On a daily basis I take that responsibility. And I take it on the best possible state of information I can get about a patient which means I examine and question my patient to the best I can. And this means that I have to have my patient in front of me. In person. Not in a forum. Not in a chat. If possible not even on the phone.
Honestly, I wasn't even that offended by what YOU said. More so what someone ELSE said.
I am actually in nursing school. So I understand the ramifications for a mis-diagnosis. I was looking at more of a "what could cause this" kind of thing. Not a "my THIS is doing THAT...what is it?" Understand what I mean? But that's cool. There are HUGE responsibilities in the medical world. It was more of a general what direction should one go, not a diagnosis. But yeah....lol. I'm sounding redundant. HAHA
